I know it's for Charger questions. But I'm at a loss. I just acquired a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T Solar Yellow two weeks ago. I'm having some problems with the transmission dipstick tube popping out when I check the fluid. The transmission has been changed to a 2001 model 46RE transmission. So same transmission model just different year. The dipstick has one bracket that bolts to either the head or the transmission bellhousing. But since I didn't do the swap and have never messed with one I don't know where the bolt goes. I've looked all over the internet, the Chrysler dealer, junkyards, and tried two Dakota R/T message boards and have had no help. I can't even drive it because it might pop out and leak fluid out. If I just knew where the bracket bolts to. I tried to place the dipstick tube in the same location as an original underhood picture I've found out of a book but the bracket doesn't seem to match to any unused hole on the back or I'm just missing the hole. Also a problem is I can't see the back since I'm doing it from the top and it isn't any better from laying under the bottom of it. If I knew if the bracket bolted to the head versus the bellhousing it might help determine where I need to try and put a bolt at. I verified with Chrysler that it's the correct dipstick tube and I even ordered a new one because this one has a dented top where my friend had to tap it into the transmission in an emergency attempt to get it home. At least if I had the bracket bolted in the tube wouldn't move and pop out anymore until I can get the knew dipstick tube in which I'll need to know how to mount it too anway. Anyone here have a Dakota R/T and know how it mounts correctly?

The bracket attaches to one of the bolts that holds the transmission case to the block.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
