So after looking around for a while would it be safe to say that I can buy a rough one #s matching for around 20,000, or I can buy a nice one non #s matching for around 45,000. or I can go all out and buy a #s matching really nice one for around 75,000,,,am I on the right track being a newbie here

Yes you have it :2thumbs:  However you also need to know that you can get a rough #s matching for around 10,000  and a #'s matching really nice one for around $50,000. When you really know what it is you want and you find it. You and the seller will answer your question. You also can search and travel in your quest until the time and money spent for a "good deal" has rendered the point moot. Or you may get lucky and have something fall in your lap. :shruggy:

The bottom line of this continuing question is no one wants to spend above what others may think is a good deal. To me a good deal is something found that fit's what one want's. If the time is right and the desire is high go for it or forever wish you had.

If what you really want is a finished car and you expect to get there by spending less for less of a car than the outlook is grim money wise.

If you are one of those that looks forward to bringing back a car as what you want to do that is a situation within the question. But the bottom line of money and effort spent is still there. ---This is not a good way to make or save money.---

The most practical end when a need to sell comes is to find someone like you that is ready to take over this money losing but fun thing we do.

You still have to decide what car you want
Perfect car and big $$$$$
A nice car and some $$$
Or a project car plus lots of money to get where you want to be but you will know what you have

I think the hardest car to find is a nice car price wise that will not cost you a bunch more money later on from the fixes it has had now just to make it look pretty but does not last as long as you would hope

And the exchange rate on the cash does not help us Canadians out much either (well for the moment anyways as we all dream of the day it goes the other way :2thumbs:)

I think it is a tougher market up here in Canada ?
Just demographically harder with more people in California than ALL of Canada.... limited "Charger" supply up here versus demand, and then there is our Canadian "peso" exchange rate which further compounds problems purchasing in the U.S., travelling to another country to view, then importing back here.
All small issues but they do nonetheless add up.

IMO, one of the LARGER issues in Canada versus in the U.S.... is the "restoration" costs if required in Canada, because IMO, decent Bodyguys up here if you want it done right, are way more expensive ! Just my opinion based on what I've seen... but I believe it's cheaper to restore in the U.S.

Never fails with "restoration"..... even on a pretty decent example, once you get into it.... where do you start ? and where do you stop ? and it always ends up costing waaay more than any original budget, hence why I think "restored" examples are so high... and the guys are still probably taking a bath financially.

I got my 69 Matching Number RT with 29K miles for $28K two months ago. The paint on my car is so so, but no rust local SC car with build sheet still taped to the back of the glove box!. Just have not removed it yet. Keep looking...

Those numbers sound like dealer/flipper numbers.  I think you can minus 20% if you find a reasonable private sale.

Classic cars are going through a serious upswing in value.  I don't know if it's a bubble that's going to burst, or if it'll keep going up.   Check out Hagerty car values over time.

Yes I was fortunate to pick this car up for that price. My next door neighbor had it and had just had gotten the car when he bought the house from the original owners estate sale. The heirs told him to take the car with the house. Crazy story but true. Furthermore, I remember this car when I was sixteen. The original owner was an older lady that lived in an adjacent neighborhood. Always garaged kept.

I posted pictures of my car on the site in the forum where members post up pictures of their cars. I will also create a shutterfly website and post up pictures there.

No it is original except one repaint in General Lee Orange. It is an original R6 coded car. Original interior, carpet, spare, jack, seat belts, drive train etc. The front seats are cloth but early 69 seats. The rear are black vinyl. As I mentioned the build sheet is still taped to the back of the glove box.

Best I can tell original mileage. Doors shut very solid, pedal pads are nice, front glass is original and not pocked, w/s all nice. But I have not old titles that show mileage unfortunately. My friend owns the successor dealership to the original selling dealer. I am going to ask him if his grandfather, the owner of the dealership back in 69 kept any paper work from the sales they made. Would be very cool to find the original contract.
