Nice that there's a vin.  That means it can be traced possibly by going back and contacting previous owners and asking where they got it.   If it was mine that's what I'd do because it can change the value 10 times or more.   
Definitely worth looking into and would be an incredible story to unravel.

Vin rivets are not original. I don't think General builders would have bothered removing vin prior to paint.

Looks doubtful it was in the show. black interior with a tan back seat.
