So, I just ordered a rebuilt power steering pump to replace the leaky one on my 440 68 r/t charger from Summit. I ordered the federal model listed as correct fitment on Summit, However, the new pump has a 0.625" press fit pulley shaft, and both my old pump and spare core have a larger 0.750" shaft. Now I don't have a useable pulley. What gives? What is the correct size? What year used the smaller diameter? The only pulleys that I can find on the market are of the dress-up billet variety. Thanks for any help.

Thanks, Jeff

Are you sure that you don't have the TRW power steering pump? It's very similar to the Federal. Scroll down about 3/4 of the way down on this page, there is a nice comparison of the 2 -> https://www.jimsautoparts.com/steering_parts.htm

I've recently been chasing down pulleys and brackets and it may be far easier finding the correct pump than a new pulley. That said, these guys have some nice aluminum pulleys -> http://www.cvfracing.com/Chrysler-Big-Block-Power-Steering-Pulley-p/bcr1ps.htm

Good luck!

I have a TRW pump not a federal. Thanks for your help. Now I have to find out what to do next.

No problem. I made the EXACT same mistake myself just a few weeks ago. Fortunately for me I noticed before ordering a new one. I'd love to help you out from here but I choose to swap over the Saginaw pump from my other car instead of figure out what to do with my TRW. Once I get to that point w/the other Charger, I'll likely swap over the Saginaw there as well (the A/C kit that I installed works much better with the Saginaw setup).

Well I looked through my stash of parts and found another TRW pump with brackets. Removed bracket and modified to accept the federal pump, now just need a pulley. Thanks for the help
