I don't know what is  going on with the world. I think it is changing. what do you think, is she  a hero.

Hero? No.

Someone who puts their life on the line for another person is a hero.

I have nothing against Bruce Jenner or anyone's life choices. But personally, I don't think of them as heroes.

Oh, I should add ..... not a hero.  He/she is a killer.

The world has gone ape-sh*t insane.  He/she is a killer, plain and simple.

He's a hero because of the dumbing of America.   Just like the woman that transformed to look like a man and had a baby.    :brickwall:
I'm still pissed that the media kept making a big deal about it like it was some kinda miracle saying a man has a baby.  F'n idiots.   :flame:
It's like taking a fish, putting arms and legs on it so it looks more like a human and then saying that this new human can breathe under water.
WTF?   How stupid are we? ???   Is it a big surprise it can live under water?  Are we supposed to be shocked?   Dumb idiots.    :brickwall:

He/she/it is no more a hero than you, me or anyone else on this planet that's just going about their lives, doing what they do.  If He/she/it saves a kitten from a tree, performs life saving surgery or single handedly takes down ISIS then maybe we'll talk, but until then, just another flesh creature...

A better question might be "why does the press keep throwing he/she in the public's face?"  That whole family has only one talent, getting their name in the paper.  My wife and I talked about it and decided "we don't care!!"  and quit watching.   I guess the news services just need filler material.. :shruggy:

I thought one report stated that Jenner didn't go through with the genital mangling which if true kind of negates the whole gender portion of it anyway.  If true he's just a cross dresser with fake boobs.

He's a guy who started being a woman.  I fail to care.

I don't know any real people who call him heroic for this.

Maybe some people in the media call him brave or heroic.  But that's different.  The media thinks Al Sharpton is worthy of attention too.

Troy

I believe the media is making a big deal of it and people are talking about it because...

the more "out there" something like this is then the more desensitized we are to it. That way, when the kid down the street decides to become a female you're more likely to say "well that Bruce Jenner did it so whatever". This is a much better situation than the kid getting bullied, harassed, beat up, killed, or so ostracized that they commit suicide. The "hero" moniker is getting thrown around because it does take a bit of guts to publicly tell everyone about it knowing that about half the country will have a negative reaction. So many - especially younger - people feel that they are all alone and no one understands what they are going through. Although, in this case I can't help but think the whole family are just a bunch of attention whores and have run out of ways to keep in the spotlight (one could only hope!).

Do I think it's anything special? No. Do I think it's right? No. Do I care? No. Do I wish the media coverage would just go away? Yes. However, it's obviously important to some people or the story would have died with waning interest.

That first sentence.....gets to me. I wonder, how does that work. Could you trust someone after that.

As far as I'm concerned, it's just another case of a kid on a swing or about to go down the slide saying "Look at me!!!".  Radical personal acceptance issues shouldn't really be making headlines.  Leave it for the tabloids that have nothing better to offer readers.

Didn't the president call him brave or heroic?

Probably so.  I hardly listen to anything he has to say, so I can't tell you for sure.

The mammal has become a confusing deviant to a generation of kids who admired and looked
up to it as an Olympic symbol of excellence. The media has made it some kind of
"wonderful" transition event. It will enjoy its wonderful "transition" when it begins its new
life in prison.
The media has blasted us with so much deviant behavior of all kinds that we've
truly become desensitized to it. Sad state of our world and country. If a person
wants to become an abboration it's their choice but don't throw it in my face in
an attempt to convince me its normal. Keep to yourself........"Come out" in the privacy
of your own closet.

It's disgusting IMO.

Our world is going insane! What is happening to the moral compass of people today? We no longer follow any type of morality. Praising someone like Jenner? I really dont care what he does to himself, not my bussiness. Same thing with gay rights, not my bussiness. I really dont care what two dudes, or two chicks want to do with each other in the privacy of there own homes. What I cant stand is having it thrown in my face like I am required to accept it, must agree with it, and like it, or be called a homophobe, or any list of other names.

I can understand why a fanatically over religous lunatic groups, ie radical muslims, want to destroy us. We are everything they despise.

Even if we're talking courage and bravery in the proper context (ie. being a LGBT icon), I don't think she's fits the bill.

She's rich. She's old. She's not risking a bright future or career by doing this. Her family is supportive. She's going to make a ton of $ out of this. The media and at least a large segment of society is ok or indifferent with her life choices.

If this had been 20 years ago, and she was a broke 19 year old college dropout, and risked losing jobs, family, and friends, and faced being ridiculed and ostracized by the media and society over this and still went forward with it (like so many others have before), then maybe id say she was courageous or brave. This just seems like a cashgrab and a circus.

If you have ever served in Iraq or Afghanistan, you would not say that.  Men there think boys and sheep are for fun (sexually) and women are only good for kids.  They are wacked beyond belief in any sense. I kid you not.   They hate us because we are free and have trees and rich green pastures and don't worship Mohammed. IMO.  Hell they hate each other. It's like a 2000 year old war there.
