Real Linoleum flooring?

I'm overhauling my kitchen and one bathroom kinda on the cheap. Looking at flooring options in less than 3.00 sq. ft. range was getting lame results. Stuff that looked like fake wood or tile and most likely wouldn't hold up for long. Anyone using "real" old school linoleum? A local dealer can get me Armstrong real linoleum (Not VCT.) for 2.59 sq. ft. in about 20 different colors to pick from, I found a nice deep blue.
I'm ripping up the old sheet vinyl now to get a look at the plywood flooring's condition and wanting feedback from any who have or are living with this type of flooring.  :scratchchin:
Thanks!

Some of the linoleum is asbestos backed. You might want to be careful with it. Also might not want anyone else knowing it until you get a plan going. just mentioned this in case you are going to remove it instead of a contractor

Depends on how old the stuff that coming up is. They stopped using asbestos in flooring in the 70s. VCT now days uses limestone.

Why not get vinyl sheeting instead of tiles? That way you have a single piece for the whole area instead of tiles that can come up individually.

Vinyl sheet flooring is what I'm removing, both layers are paper backed. I'm sick of browns/tans/beige and after living with this stuff, sheet flooring is not really repairable or all that durable. VCT that "looks like" linoleum requires a lot more maintaining, stripping cleaning and waxing. (I can get that for 79 cent a foot.) Just like counter tops 99% of what's offered in flooring looks too fake. I've gone with white cabinets and counter tops so a deep blue floor (B7blue...   ) with ceiling planked with "Apple" tongue in groove from Armstrong Ceiling Systems should complement.  :scratchchin:
Here's the linoleum:

Here's ceiling:

I'm limited mostly by this place being a Mobile Home, no point in getting too fancy but fixing what I don't like and needs replacing anyway. I've been replacing the wood paneling with 3/8 Hardy Board, taped and filled with joint compound like sheet rock. With a zero burn rating it costs less than new paneling and yields a smooth paint-able surface that's indestructible. I rip out the old stuff and upgrade insulation with foam board and fiberglass batting after coating the framing with Termidor to protect from termites.

Our first house had multiple layers of vinyl sheet flooring.. The top sheet looked nice, but had a rip where someone had moved the fridge. Because of the house having a basement, (boy do I miss having a basement), we took it to the base and covered it with luan and then new sheet vinyl.. Here in Florida we are build on slab and have used Very expensive real wood flooring and also much cheaper Laminated flooring.. To be very honest I would never waste the money on real hardwood again.. The laminated flooring is WAY cheaper and stands up to incredible torture.. Our 8 grand kids and my walking with a cane a lot is pretty good proof of it's lasting properties... Depending on the brand and color you can find some really nice looking stuff that can fool most. It's very durable and great when used on floors that flex as it flexes with the sub-floor..

A friend has a manufactured home that he put this down in and it looks great!! He replaced sheet goods there due to rips. Maybe check that out before you decide...

Hi Steve! Thanks for chiming in! I've decided to go retro-resto-mod on the mobile so here's what's cooking. The darn linoleum costs 6-10 times as much as commercial VCT so bang for buck has me skimming transitions and blems then laying down backer board to overlay. I'm putting this down over the backer:

The ceiling for the kitchen will be this:

With white counter tops, cabinets, walls and fridge it should have a kinda beach cottage vibe. I'm keeping everything as open and minimal as possible, toaster oven, microwave and induction cook top. (No range/oven needed really.) As I redo the ceilings I'll move lighting and replace with new LED fixtures. (The main bathroom will get similar treatment next.) With linoleum being tree hugger trendy it's now the opposite of what I'd assumed, it's costly!
