Replacement rear shock mount bracket

All,

The lower shock mount on my passenger side is stripped. Either I cross threaded it (don't think so) or it was that way and I didn't realize it when I pulled it off. Anyhow, I don't think you can replace the mount so I am looking for a new bracket and can't locate one. Is this something that is available aftermarket or do I need to find one in a yard?

It's the bracket that sits under the leaf springs which has the lower shock mount in it and the U bolts go through this bracket.

That's the upper cross member. I'm looking for the lower, the plate with the shock stud that is strapped to the leaf springs with the U bolts.

Thanks though!  :2thumbs:

Mancini Racing offers a bolt on stud for under $20 or you can replace the whole mounting plate for $120. However, there are literally millions of these out there. Shop the classifieds or post a wanted ad.

I figured that they would be out there but I'll be dammed if I can figure out the proper name or search term to get hits on it. I tried for probably 25 minutes before just giving up and posting. (though I failed to mention that in the OP)  It's funny/sad because I typed in leaf spring shock mount in about a dozen different ways and got lots of leaf spring stuff but nothing that I wanted.  :brickwall:

Guess I will just spend some time in the for sale section and see if I can get anywhere before I move on the new stuff.

Thanks!

Why don't you just re-tap the bolt?

It's not salvageable. The threads are basically stripped clean off. That's why I think I just missed it when I took the old shocks off rather than being the one who X-threaded it and hosed it.

Give me a day or so to see if I can turn up my old ones.   I got a second pair and had them powder coated before mounting on my car.

Well, it didn't take but a minute to find my old ones.   They're in fair shape, the threads on the studs need to be chased with a die but are in fair shape as you get away from the very end.  Anyway you can have them for the shipping cost.

green69rt

Oh, and by the way, it's called a rear shock plate.
