Wife is buying me one of the Hurst repop pistol grip shifters for my birthday. I can see the shifting mechanism is replaced. Any surprises on doing this myself. Looks pretty cut and dry. And I know the pistol grips started in 70 and mine is a 69 but I like them.

Cut and dry, if you replace the shifter, the mechanism and the linkage rods with the 70 parts.  The boot is different too.  If you are only getting a shifter arm, the new ones are bolt-on and the original are slip-in.  You will also hit the dash with your hand while shifting, if you don't change all.  I think only one of the linkage rods is different, but they are sold as sets.  Also, you could change the levers on the shifter, itself if you can find parts.  Brewers performance has the parts, but i dont see the levers separate anymore.

Im not a fan, driven a few, i prefer the shifter ball.

The set is from hurstshiftersonline.com and the picture just shows the handle and shift mechanism. Its not cheap either. I figured the boot might have to change but shift rods I was not aware of. I'll have to look into that before I order it. Thanks for the info bigblck11.

Okay, I'm glad I checked. Brewars has the complete package with the linkage rods and everything else needed. It's more money of course but at least its complete.

Great!  Wayne at Brewer's is good to work with.  Def. not cheap, more than a used transmission.  Make sure you paint the linkage rods, mine doesn't see water, unless caught in rain.  But, they rusted and I will be taking it apart to paint them up.
