Im going to take it to the autobody place in town tomorrow and see what they think. If it's going to cost some coin to get it fixed then I'll talk to ICBC about it (I have vandalism coverage) and see how much my rates might increase.

BASTARDS  :brickwall:    sorry to see this  :flame: that's a deliberate one too by the looks of it  ,   not accidental  :scratchchin:   although could be a  kids foot scooter trike  or bike thingy   handle bar one side  done it  ,

My first thought (after vandalism) is this is unintentional.

Years ago when I was fitting/making boat tops. I returned to install a boat top that I had field  measured for. The shop owner cornered me and showed me some random grey marks on the side of this white boat. We went to the boat and discussed what I did. My belt buckle matched the marks on the boat. Lesson learned.

This looks like that sort of thing. :Twocents:

Yes I agree, most likely unintentional. But I don't think it's a belt buckle since the scratch goes all the way to the bottom of the door  :P

Maybe intentional, maybe not.

If it was intentional that's pretty low.

"It would've been worth having it happen, if I coulda caught that motherf***er doing it."

redmist

Looks like tip of door was resting on your paint. Person was inside moving around, and that caused the swirls. The stripe is where someone got in/out of the car and the suspension unloaded and caused the vertical stripe.

Someone opened their door, and let it rest on your car.
JUNKTRAVELER: all I've seen in this thread is a bunch of bullies and 3 guys that actually give a crap.

myk

Intentional or not, this still reeks of someone not paying attention to their surroundings and respecting other people's property.  If I can twist and contort myself while getting out of my car to ensure that my door or whatever doesn't strike someone else's property, then other people can do the same; but we all know they won't...

That makes sense to me. It looks like someone was standing sideways on your door and wearing levis. There is a rivet at the pocket that would make a mark like that. Bad Ju Ju never the less.

No one makes a mark like that without knowing about it, sorry.

Ok it's not someone just resting on my car. The Mark goes from those swirls, ALL the way down to the bottom of the door/rocker panel, then all the way back up diagonally to the side mirror.

That also rules out someone else's car door (not to mention no car can park on my driver's side at my home where this happened).

looks like a frickin slug or snail trail.....

MoParJW

Looks keyed to me... by some low-life that didn't have the ''guts'' to key it all the way from the front to the back.

I wonder if these people realise how much time/money/effort goes into these cars when they decide to do something like this for whatever reason  :shruggy:

I think it looks more like someone with a bag of some sort (like a hockey bag) that stood too close and it rubbed on the car then they set it on the ground then picked it up again as they were walking away is why it comes back up ????

Total Bummer!

BUT, i've seen this kinda scratching before...
Centre strap on a car cover blown up in high winds.
Vertical scratch and then circular movements when the strap couldn't move anymore!
