Once more I prove that most accidents happen in the garage

Well maybe not prove...

I did put a small dent in the quarter a year or 2 ago when backing into the garage.  This time I added some battle scars on the front.  I figured it needed something...

It was last Thursday.  Because of the exhaust smell I usually push the Charger straight out of the garage, close the garage door and fire up the car so it can warm up without stinking up the place.  I also leave the trans in neutral with the e brake on.  That's usually when it's not very warm and since this was not the case here I figured I'd just fire it up inside the garage and back out.  So I have the car in neutral but the mechanism has had some issues in the past.  As soon as I release the e brake the shifter drops in D and BAM, the car launches itself towards the wall.  If there had been nothing in front of the car all would've been well as  I slammed on the brakes, but I had three thick pieces of mdf and some thinner stuff leaning against that wall.  I have them sitting on blocks and it leaves plenty room for the car.  In the very front I had put our glass storm door which we swap for a screen in spring.  Of course I smashed into that, exploding the damn window, and having everything else fall forward against the car.  I lifted everything away and pushed the car back.  It's not too bad, the driver's side fender now matches the passenger side.  Previous owner had that one damaged in his garage.  See I'm on to something here!

Unfortunately I had to dent the damn I piece but it is what it is.  I think I can remove it without removing the grill and it should be easy enough to pop the dent back out.

Oh well, it never was a show car.  I spent a while picking pieces of glass out of the grill, I'm just happy that wasn't damaged.

If its insured though Hagerty classic car insurance i believe they will pay to fix it. I had a hood fly off couple years back because i forgot to pin it and they paid to fix the whole thing. Just a thought. :shruggy:

No kidding?  Well we do have no fault here, but does this not affect the premium?  I can't find any other damage, the chrome seems fine as well but I do have to wash this thing.

That always sucks ass! Luckily you have a uni color, so paint touch ups are easier to hide.

I wouldn't make an insurance claim over a few hundred bucks in damage, period.  I don't care what they tell you about not raising your rate.   Maybe your first claim won't spike it, but what if you get a real hit and make another bigger claim later on?

Ghoste

Damned straight Mike, because they definitely record it and save it in your file.

Dino, I feel for you. At least those are fixable dents and your grill isn't damaged.  Someone was watching over you.

myk

1.  It could've been much worse.

2.  Your car is gorgeous, flaws and all; it's a show car if I ever saw one...

Geez 74 what the heck happened?

It sucks what happened to my car but I'm not going to feel bad about it.  I feel bad enough losing my cat so this puts it in a different light altogether.

I wish I knew what color code my car is.  I'll just have to find something that matches close enough to do these touch ups.

Since the I piece got hit, I may just redo the grill or at least spruce it up a bit.  It doesn't have much paint left and looks pretty dull.

I'm not getting the insurance involved.  The less they know the better.

Hammer the dent out, touch up the paint, and enjoy.

came home from work and had pink eye in my right eye so I had drive with one eye home while backing up with one eye I scrapped the entrance to my garage....I was able to buff it out with 2000 grit paper, but still has its dents, but hardly noticeable...so yeah accidents do happen in the garage.

what did you say about scrapes  :icon_smile_big:

Holy crap, when I first seen the top pic I thought it was a shot of the sun, sky and clouds until I scrolled down more LOL. Thought it was going to be some kind of message about heaven. I cropped the pic to display what it appears to look like if viewing only the upper half of the pic.

Sorry to get off subject
