The community of Manteca, CA puts on an awesome Memorial Day weekend event.  There's a sideline car show involved, but so much more important is the day's and night's activities providing a great memorial and tribute to our Veterans.

Put together by the Not Forgotten organization, the Sunday May 24th events are a wonderful community outpouring of support.  If you are anywhere near Northern California on May 24 check it out and pay a visit.

What's happening in your area for Memorial Day?

My boss is kind enough to give me the day, paid, off work Friday before Memorial Day. I meet 4 other people at the cemetery in Walla Walla, WA. We spend several hours in the morning placing flags on all the veterans graves. I have done it for the past 4 years now and it is really rewarding each year. Last year I had an older gentleman come shake my hand and tell me thank you for what I am doing. He was at his brothers grave, who was a Korean war veteran.

This is a shot of one of the three areas at the cemetery. This is the second largest section out of the 3 and only had a couple left to do on this one before we moved onto the next section. It was a beautiful morning.
