I think it's the 4-way flasher.   I checked the internet, for a replacement part and all I get is a small button (round) type.   But it has no means of mounting, as this one does.
I used to have a handle on life....but it broke off.

Charger4404spd

Where did it mount? What wire colors?

According to them, it decodes to:

71-73 Intermediate (B-Body) Headlight On Warning Buzzer

Crazy440

Yep.  It's the buzzer.  Now, I still have to find the 4-way flasher.  When I pull it on, the two dash lights, come on, but no flashing.  Turn signals work great.
Would this be it?

Here is the setup on 72/73 Chargers:

and here you can see the 4 ways flasher location on harness. Normally there is a bracket mounted on brakes and dash frame braces to fit the flasher, same on to turning lights to mount on a side of ashtray receptacle:

Highway by the Sea

I finally found a headlight buzzer wiring harness for my car, along with the buzzer that was in the 1973 Charger that I removed it from (junkyard owner said it was a 1974 but the doors had a 1972 manufacture tag).  The buzzer does not buzz when I open the door with the lights on.   :'( Perhaps the elements took a toll on it, or there is a wiring problem in my car.   :icon_smile_question: I have ordered a NOS buzzer on EBAY and hope to have it working.

Charger1973

Highway by the Sea

I just tested the headlight buzzer this morning (by hooking it up to my seatbelt buzzer wires with a special wiring harness) and it works like that, but still will not buzz when I open the door with the lights on  :brickwall:.  So the buzzer from the junkyard is good after all.  Any electric gurus out there?  I am at a loss and I want this to work!

Highway by the Sea

I just examined the wiring diagram again and I see that the female plug that activates the headlight buzzer is also hooked up to one of the key buzzer red wires (by a black wire) in the ignition switch wires.  Since I do not have the key buzzer working yet, I suppose this must be the problem.  It would appear that one must work for the other to.Nacho, where are you???

Nacho-RT74

I'm here ;D

both buzzers ( key in and lights on ) are hooked to the drivers door jam switch. They are just spliced from same black line

Check your drivers side door jam switch. You must have hooked two wires, one yellow what drives the lights ground ( dome, map and courtesy lights ) and a black one what drives the warning signals. ( key in and lights on buzzer )

I know I made a diagram about that LONG TIME AGO... will search

Nacho-RT74

I DID KNOW I had it... I made this LOONG time ago... this is how 71/73 warning buzzers net is wired

both works individually, but both need to be hooked to driver side door jam switch

Highway by the Sea

Thanks Nacho!  The diagram seems to verify what I have suspected about the key buzzer needing to be working in order for the headlight buzzer to work also.

Nacho-RT74

No... is not, both works separatelly

the black wire running from door jam switch and arriving to lights on buzzer plug keeps running until the key in buzzer switch. the point where arrives to lights on plug is JUST an splicing point to feed both devices, instead run two wires from same source ( door switch ) but both are feeded at the same time by the door ground, no matter if one or another is working or not. Door ground keeps arriving to both devices.

Highway by the Sea

Hmmmmm????  I do not know why my headlight buzzer would not be working then.  It is plugged up to the correct female plug with the correct wiring harness, the buzzer was tested by me, and it should be properly grounded.  My original 73 Satellite owners manual does not talk about it.  This is a royal pain in the butt!  :RantExplode:

Nacho-RT74

as I asked... did you check you have the door jam switch wire plugged ? two wires must arrive to driver side door jam switch. yellow and black.

buzzer doesn need to be grounded. Negative comes from door ground ( black wire ) and positive comes from lights switch ( black traced yellow wire ). Will buzz even if it was floating.

Nacho you are a GENIUS!!!  Yes, the door switch black wire was unplugged, and from the appearance of it, had been so for years. So my headlight buzzer now works!!! And guess what!!!  The key buzzer also started working when I  plugged it in!!!  You just saved me a lot of money on electrician work, since I had just spoken with one two days ago.  Nacho for sainthood!!! :engel016:

Nacho-RT74

Glad I could help! that's the purpuose of board right ?

Not a Genious, just experiece based and analizing diagrams.

Probably was disconected to save from the annoying buzzing sound of EVERYTHING ( but seatbelts, what are not door ground related ) LOL.
