I don't have cable or satellite and I'm not going to get it but I am fixing to buy BSG on DVD or through i-Tunes. My question is regarding the miniseries from '03. Is it a must-have in regards to understanding the backstory for the series? I grabbed the SciFi Inside documentary on the show which explained a lot but I don't want to miss out on anything the miniseries might reveal. What do you think?

yes, there is a lot of building in the miniseries. I consider it a must see.

You HAVE to see the mini series. It has everything to do with the cylons taking over Caprica, and the relationship between Baltar & #6, as well as other relationships. Defiantly watch the mini series 1st! There is a LOT of character building in it.

You HAVE to see the mini series. It has everything to do with the cylons taking over Caprica, and the relationship between Baltar & #6, as well as other relationships. Defiantly watch the mini series 1st! There is a LOT of character building in it.

If you buy the season one set, it comes with the miniseries included.  Currently only season one and season 2.0 (which is the first half of season 2) are available for sale.  Season 2.5 should be coming out very soon.
