I am missing the grommet in my firewall on my 68 for the hole that is rectangular in shape (2"x1 1/4") that has a curved top and bottom on the short ends of the rectangle; this hole is in behind the brake pedal area near where the steering column goes through the firewall.
Does anyone know where I can source one of these grommets, and what is that hole in the firewall for?

Called the "Auto Trans Firewall Plug" in the plug/grommet kits. The hole is for the 4-speed clutch rod. When you have a 4-speed there's a rubber boot - otherwise there's a plastic plug. I don't know if you can buy them individually.

I spoke too soon! Look near the bottom: $5
