Finally, got on the road today after installing the new RTR Firecore system on the 440.  As others have said, it is awesome.  Startup is much crisper and there seems to be a seat of the pants performance enhancement.  I never would have expected that from a just an ignition upgrade.  Many thanks to Ron.......

I still agree 100% after using the RB dist. for over a month now. I'm still having the occasional stumble though when I punch the accelerator. I'm running the original carter carb. so I'm focusing my attention on that at the moment. But over all the car still runs much better than before since I switched to firecore.

Good stuff Bob.  :2thumbs:

Where did you end up with timing adjustments ?

I knew you'd be happy with the upgrade

Ron, good question!  Before I made the switch, I checked the timing with a digital light.  It showed about 12.6 initial, but only about 25 degrees total.  I know that when it was dyno'd last time, they set the total at 35 degrees. With the new Firecore in there I set it to the same 12.6/25 reading that it showed before.  It runs like a bat out of hell, so I can only assume that the "total" reading is due to a faulty light or operator error (most likely).

Bob,

I'm pretty sure the timing light is off for some reason.  :scratchchin:

If it runs that strong the total certainly isn't at 25* total   ;)

As long as it isn't detonating under heavy load...leave it alone   :2thumbs:
