help find correct speedo gear

  i have a 727 trans. i put a 26 tooth speedo gear in it. now the speedo runs to fast. do i have to put a gear with less teeth in it to slow down the speedo? thanks Rene

When I changed my gears I was able to just go online and buy one that worked for my new 410 gears.  The smaller the gear the faster the speedo will go.  The one I have now for my 410 gears is twice as big as the one for the stock highway gears I had.

what you are saying is that to slow my speedo down i need more teeth, a bigger gear . is that correct.? Rene

What is your tire size and gear ratio?

It's best to check for the correct pinion by using the odometer instead of the speedometer, the odometer is direct geared while the speedo accuracy can vary with the road speed.

my tires are 15-60's i don't know my rearend ratio but i believe it's about 3:55 .
