I purchased a 1970 440, and I know the top alternator bracket is over on the power steering pump.  Now I am curious to what else is backwards.  Does anybody have a picture capturing all the brackets on the front of the motor.  Another question, will a 67 383 brackets fit on my 440.  I imagine that they are interchangeable.

Did the car this motor come from have A/C ?
That would mount above the power steering pump and maybe why that bracket is there ?

Didnt ac cars have a 2 groove alt pulley? The water pump housing screams truck to me.

I am not going with ac right now. The pulleys are set up for non ac; however, the PS pump has a ac pulley on it and it is in the lower location to accommodate the ax location. Will probably find the brackets for the non ac location against the water pump housing. I don't know. The front of this motor appears to be piece - milled  together to get it down the road.

You have a 1973-78 water pump and cast crank/balancer, however, the federal PS pump would be correct. It looks to me like someone took it out of a later 70's car, truck, or RV and tried to combine the accessories. I'm not sure how well the pulleys will line up with a cast crank.

You have what you need for the alt.. You are missing the other half of the PS pump bracket. I don't think they will bolt to that later style water pump either. I think the '67 power steering bracket will bolt up to that pump though, assuming the '67 has the TRW pump with the hinged bracket.

You will need a different water pump housing if that's going in a '72 and earlier car. It probably has the wrong oil pan too if it didn't come from a car. Also that kickdown linkage won't work in a 2nd gen. (hits the firewall).
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Thank you for the picture, and all the detailed motor information.  The motor came out of a Duster.  I knew that wasn't the right pulley and pump setup.  What do I need to do to get this thing to work in my 68?

It looks like there is a kit for the water pump housing with a drivers side outlet on ebay.  Will a 67 Water pump housing off of a 383 fit on a 440?  Same block right?  I am hoping that the complete power steering setup that I pull off the 67 will work with it.  As for the Harmonic balancer, can I replace it with any BB harmonic balancer, or do I need it balanced to the crank?  Below is a side shot with the Moroso pan.  Will it work?

I would put the water pump and PS bracket from your '67 on there and then check pulley alignment. You can see they used spacers to get it aligned. If they don't align with those brackets, then I'd try the pulleys from the '67. All I know about the balancer is it's weighted and you can't swap it out with a non-weighted one. The oil pan should work if it fit in the Duster. You will also need motor mounts and brackets from a 66-72 B or C body, or 70-74 E body.

The easy route would be to get a complete set of pulleys and brackets.
