Does anyone know the correct color of the hood indicator lens?

Charger_69

Amber like the front marker lights.

What about cars that have different color depression decals? Did the factory only offer black?  :shruggy:
1969 Dodge Charger R/T
2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th edition
1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
1972 Plymouth Duster

Lennard

Yes, black hood depression decals only.

Ghoste

They were meant to simulate hood vents, thats why the black.

lloyd3

I can understand the confusion. As the amber ages, the plastic in it gets darker. Original units can look almost red/brown.

Yes like Lennard said black only...I have to fix my statement though...black to match the hood depression decals OR the V21 Hood Performance Treatment ;)  :nana:

Do they make repo's of these lenses?

Lennard

Yes, year one, classic industries, charger specialties and many more businesses sell them.

Ghoste

But if I'm not mistaken there is more than one manufacturer for them and at least at one time there were some differences as far as completeness of the kit and overall quality so you might want to check around first.

Did black Chargers get the black hood depression decals?

MxRacer855

Great question!  :yesnod:  :2thumbs:
Very curious about the same thing myself.

Jeff

Ghoste

I want to say no but you've got me second guessing it now.

bull

I kinda think they would have for no other reason than for uniformity of the assembly process but then they could have saved a few bucks by leaving them off. I've asked a similar question about the black paint on the panels behind the grill but I don't recall getting a solid answer.

What about black (or any color) chargers with a white stripe? Did they just leave them blank?

Stripe color had no bearing on hood depressions.

Back N Black

I have red on my hood to match the tail stripe. I guess different colors are just aftermarket.

MxRacer855

If the hood depression decals were to go on a black car for uniformity, would they still be gloss going on gloss?

My car is painted gloss black and I think a satin would look great on there.
Just like the tail panel!  :2thumbs:

Right you are, take a looksy. It's missing the main ingredient, the light bulb housing.

Where/what is the black paint you speak of behind the grill ?

I can go look at mine, it has not been redone other than exterior only repaint, the rest is still original paint.
Only wimps wear Bowties !

If I recall, the designer wanted the hood decals on all cars, even black cars and cars with the V21 treatment.  I plan on reinstalling a set when my car gets the V21 option added.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Bronzedodge

Check your sources - I bought a set from Classic Industries, they were a very tight fit in the hood, thought the lens was going to break.   ::)  The studs for the retainer were a smaller diameter, like a 8-32 vs the original size.  I was hoping for a more accurate reproduction, esp for something so small.
Mopar forever!
