Finishing up the final little details on my 68 restoration, and I am missing everything from the trunk (other than a spare tire).
Can anyone tell me what type of spare tire hold down I need for a 68; is it the kind with the "J" bend on the end and the huge wingnut? I am assuming it holds the jack plate also.
Is there a certain kind of jack I need to track down that will be correct for a 68 charger?

Jacks can be a challenge for these cars. You might get lucky and find everything you need, but....unless you're willing to pony up some significant $$$, this might take a while.

Here a some pics of when I first got my 68 on your subject of the spare tire. Not the best detail but it gives you some sort of an ideal. Not pictured is the cradle mounted to the outer wheel well housing for the other end of the jack post to rest on.

As lloyd3 mentioned, these jacks can be pricey. I was fortune enough that mine came with the original jack. If you can wait it out you may be able to get a good deal on one from someone that doesn't know their outrageous value. In the meantime you could store a small floor jack for tire changing purposes. But if you need one for a show car then you may have to bite the bullet and shell out the cash. And if you do show your car at a Mopar event, make sure that if you're trunk is open for display that your Charger is supervised or that you somehow lock that jack in place because they been known to be stolen since they're worth a lot.
