I have a different location down as the possible Old 99 Junction Roadblock than what I see in the map two posts up... I could be wrong though. But it does look quite a bit less built up than the one on your map. And the road curve seems closer too.

Yes, YEs...YES! Great find!! The one I specified only looked close, but that long, soft curve rather than my straight with a tighter curve is MUCH better...and that dirt road running parallel is the one that was gated long ago. Awesome correction!

You can pull the coordinates out of the url. The url is made up of a bunch of variables near the end, each one starting with the "&" so look for "&ll=" which is the lat/long coordinates. We see he's referencing these coordinates: 37.09024,-95.712891 which is a "Brooks Brothers" business between a couple lakes in southeast Kansas.

I'm reminded of the big lake at the beginning of the film, which I've also tried to find, but I don't think that's it, and I don't recognize it.

Somewhere in my notes is a throw-away, general reference to the area the farm is in...but I'll have to dig that up. As dilapidated as it was in 1973, I doubt the barn is still there very much.

I just found a website with a list of California Fire Lookouts and I put them all into a Google Earth Map File if anyone wants to search for the one in the movie..

Ah.... egg on face! Here's a better map (attached). I updated it with three different kinds of markers.

Red = collapsed or removed.
Yellow = Dilapidated.
Green = Everything else.

On the previous map I had assumed their listing of 453456, 1201233 meant something like a latitude/longitude divisible by 10,000 such as 12.3456, -120.1233 but actually it's in the format of [d]ddmmss. So I had to parse out each coordinate and divide the minutes by 60 and the seconds by 3600 and add all of that to the degrees to get the correct coordinates.

I always knew there was something special about DMCL besides the charger...As any resident of the BIG VALLEY (San Joaquin Valley, Ca.) can tell you, this type of scenery is present all along the eastern side of the valley from Sacramento all the way down the state almost to Bakersfield...It was great growing up in what I call the "real" California...been to that Sonora Save Mart lots of times and never realized..plenty of little east valley one horse farm towns, massive walnut, almond, and orange orchards, and most importantly plenty of out of the way places to PUNCH IT with your big block Mopar..(back before it was practically a felony to do so)..If they ever do a remake, they better film again in the heart of Ca. and shun Hollywood and the Bay area...+
