I may have fried my tranny? So I was driving at 10 mph and punched it. Went through first caught second gear and then seemed like it went back down to first. I slowed down and it went on into third.

I drove down the road and the tranny worked correctly. I turned around and like an idiot did the same thing. Punched it while going like 10 mph, caught second gear then went back to first. I slowed pulled over. This time I could smell something burning like brakes or a clutch. It was not the brakes. I had a forward gear, but when I put it in neutral I could not push the car. I put it in reverse and had nothing. I eventually turned the car around by driving through a persons front yard... and drove it to my buddies shop. We checked the fluid and it was low but not like off the stick. Turned it off for a few minutes and tried again. Same thing. Forward gears are there, no reverse and no neutral. Any ideas?

Moving forward in Neutral and no Reverse sounds like the rear clutch isn't releasing. This occurs when a weak or broken Belleville spring allows the clutch piston to pop out of its bore and jam the clutch discs together.

No fix except remove/disassemble.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

John,

The car won't move in neutral. Acts like it is in park? Car moves forward in Drive, will not move backwards in reverse. While in park the car acts normal.

The band on the front drum...I believe....was the problem with the tranny. The band basically melted on the drum. Should be rebuilt and back in the car Monday. New clutches installed in the front drum, torque converter etc. Went back with all stock parts.
