Is Napster still in business? I don't even know if there is such a thing but I'm looking for a site where you can buy individual songs without paying some stupid monthly fee. Is there such a thing and if so which is the best?

I need a few songs for my dad's upcoming memorial service, stuff I wouldn't ordinarily buy or have access to.

i-tunes.
I dont like to clutter up my cpu with random programs. I use I tunes for cd recording, mp3 ripping, and as a player so I figgured Id use it to buy music as well.
$.99/song
$10-ish/album

I like shareaza better. it lets you connect to multiple networks and has torrent-style downloads. No spyware or adware either.

Some of the listed sites above are free, right? Is'nt that illegal and the song artist were filing all sorts of suits with the users to tied them up in litigation? ???

yes and yes. Im not saying that you should download anything from those sites, since it is illegal after all, even though the chances of you being personally prosecuted are slim due to logistics and the limited resources by the authorities to track down everyone. like I said, its wrong and I do not condone such activity.  ;D

This seems like the same thing as the warning that's on the side of a cigarette pack.  :icon_smile_big:

I could never figure out the big deal with downloading music from these free sights. Is it really all that different from when we were kids and use to record our favorite songs off the radio onto our casette players when they came on. Nobody seemed to give a shit then.

What songs you looking for?

Todd

My dad was a Johnny Cash fan and liked a lot of other types of country music. I have very little country music in my collection and I don't think any of it is on CD, maybe the Dixie Chicks but that's about it. All of his stuff was on cassette. I don't think my mom and dad ever had a CD player except the one on their laptop. I don't know which particular songs I need yet. I need to see some choices first.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I use Napster. Never had a problem with them. .99 cents a song.
