I just find it amazing that all these so called "barn finds"  that have been sitting for 30+ years seem to be in worse shape and have more rust than cars that have been on the road on and off for 30+ years.      
Perhaps all these barns don't have a roof and sides.  
I've seen true barn finds or cars that were parked in a garage for over 30 years.  Other than dirty they are in the same basic structural shape and condition since the day they were parked there.   So I call B.S. on most the so called barn finds in this condition.  

Hell, we've got members here that have not touched their car in 10-20 years and they aren't all rotted away.   Unless they sat outside.    Is this car close to you drache?   Ask the guy for a picture of the barn.  Tell the guy he needs to spend any money from the car on a new barn

I don't know why the general public, think a barn, is a wise choice to store a vehicle.
I get asked yearly, and have the same reply to all, what are you,  nuts!!!!!!!!
If you own a barn, then you know the associated problems, Mice, birds and insects.
If you have mice, there will be cats, even if you do not own any.......
They seem to have to mark everything in their path....so... now you have mice feces and urine inside and a coating of feline urine outside.
If the cats have entry, so do the raccoons, here's an educational moment...... how quickly, can a raccoon remove a closed vent window and gain entry to your vehicle, you would be surprised.  Last vent window here, resulted in a complete new interior, of a 30 ft day cruiser.
Insects, really no biggy unless you are not paying attention and have not noticed the hornets nest tucked ahead of the drivers door you just opened!!!
And then the birds, besides Pigeons ( Flying Rats ) which are pretty common, Barn swallows, really make a mess of stuff below their nests, and if that is not annoying enough, the seem to be on fly by alert, try to enter the barn without being dive bombed by your unwelcome guests.

So everytime someone asks me if I have room in my barn, I just shake my head and say no.

Due to very unforeseen circumstances last year, I had to store my Dart in the barn at the ranch (due to losing my current storage space and there was no spaces available anywhere). I was worried about mice and pack rats. But it was either that or keep it the parking lot of my apartment all winter long (which I'm glad I didn't).

So I parked it into the barn. I tossed packets of mouse/rat poison throughout the car. One under the truck, one on the passenger floor, and three under the hood (really worried about the wiring). The poison is irresistible to mice (pack rats not so much) and it states to put out some water as the poison makes the mice thirsty, so instead I put out a pan of anti freeze on the ground under the engine (didn't have to worry about pets).

I put the car cover over the car, closed the barn doors, and went off to work and didn't get to see my car for 6 months hoping for the best.

About a month or so back I opened the doors expecting the worse. There was nothing on the car cover, no animal feces. The trunk poison wasn't touched and neither was the one on the passenger side floor. The interior smelled perfectly fine and no damage.

Then I popped the hood. Instantly I had seen one of the packs of poison had been ripped into and about 8 mice droppings. I looked around and didn't see any nests nor damage to the wiring. Then I looked into the pan of anti freeze and there I found 5 dead floating mice. Only 5 was sort of a  surprise since the mice have been bad out there many years.

Turned the key and the engine fired right up.

Sadly due to a bench push rod or valve the car will be staying in the barn a little while longer since I'm back working.

Just a short side story -
I met a guy at a car show a few years back who had a completely original '68 Coronet R/T. He had the build sheet and all of the provenance to go with it.
Instead of pictures of a cars resto (it was a mint unrestored car), he had pictures of what the original owner of the car purchased it for... herding cattle! NO JOKE! 
There were dozens and dozens of pictures of that car in different spots throughout different times of the year just running the little critters down. 

The fact the car was in that great of shape given the history just blew my mind!

So... maybe this '68 is a this guy's Coronet's long lost brother?

30 yrs. ago would have been 1985. That Charger would have been 17 yrs. old, and may have looked similar to how it does now when it got shoved in the barn (if indeed it really was in a barn for 30 yrs.) Who knows?

What is your point? The mice never got INTO the car (interior). As for the mice that were there and died, there was no nesting or destruction because the poison killed them. If the poison hadn't of been there it would have been worse.

The reason mice eat the poison is because to them, it's food.

They are attracted to it.

They crawl away into little tiny places in your car to die.

Lots of places to curl up and die in there.

Simple fact is there were less mice that were around my car with the poison than the car(s) that didn't have poison in them.
