Two Daytonas behind a barn

I came accross this photo online today and the way it was worded I couldn't help but wonder if the Daytonas are still there??

Anyone know these cars?

Really?  What's the story behind them?  I've never seen this picture either or heard any stories about them.

Wow what a dream situation that would have been to find those behind a barn. UNTILLLL the owner said not for sale gonna fix it up one day and you learn a year later sold for pennies. Hopefully they are alive and well and terrorizing the streets again.

Me too! If anyone knows of one in the SE I will be glad to take a look. Past on a white 'bird at Garlits a couple years ago....it was in pieces, but appeared to be all there. Guess it wasnt a bad deal...that hindsight it always 20/20.

Just to be clear, you mean "they" as in there are still cars to be found.  Not "they" as in the cars in the picture above.... right?

It is out of respect for the person that told me and the elderly owner of the cars..... So for now, they sit and wait for their calling....

As far as I know there is still a Dayton hidden away out here in Phx.  I've seen it twice and actually took measurements of the stripe and letters way back when (1981) when I was painting my Daytona.  This was in the time before you could open a catalogue and buy things, so we had to do things like that to try and replicate items.  It's a 19,000 mile 440-4 speed, B5 with White gut and a Black wing.  Still had the original redline tires on it the last time I saw it.  The owner was a drug riddled nut way back when.  He hid the car and I went looking for it years ago and couldn't find it.  I'd be surprised if he is even still alive and what happened to the car is a mystery to me.  It's never surfaced anywhere in Arizona to my knowledge.
