I have a friend that has a 69 Charger with a 440 with a 727 trans,What would make it backfire when he gets on it? As far as just cruising it runs perfect,it only happens when you get on it.

It could be a timing problem or a lean condition in the fuel delivery. That's where to look first.  :yesnod:

I drop initial advance to 10 degrees,a lot back firing when press gas pedal down, put 16 deg initial,everything was ok again
