does anyone know how much weight a 440 short block is and how much one head is,i am buying it by the pound ,i dont know if its any good or not ,so i am trying to get a idea of the cost. it is a 2536430 casting, so I think it probably has a steel crank. Thanks. do you think it's worth taking a chance on?

How much money are you talking about? If it's only a couple hundred bucks, it's a "no brainer", but if it's in the $400+ range, more research should be in order such as does it spin over (not locked up), how complete, etc.

Blocks are getting much harder to find every day. Your personal financial situation will dictate what is "a gamble" to you, but should you decide against buying it, let someone else know so that someone who needs it gets it, rather than it getting junked.

a couple of the cylinders are pretty rough and i think would have to be sleeved,it dont have one  of the heads and no intake ,but still weighed in at 450 pounds and at 20 cents a pound its to much to gamble on for me ,but if you live springfield mo let me know
