HVLP Gun Questions

Not sure if this is the right forum for this if not, someone please let me know.

Many of the guns I see for sale come in a set.  I can see a set with a larger gun and a detail gun, but some have two of the same size.  If the nozzles and needles are swappable, why would I need two guns?

Specifically, I'm looking at the Devilbiss Startingline (two guns the same size) vs the Eastwood Evolution (multiple needles).

My plan is mostly primer and probably paint the engine bay, door jambs, etc.  I may paint the car myself, but that would be a much later decision.

It is always a good practice to use a separate gun for your priming/ sealer and another gun for your base coat , and most painters will use another gun for clear coat only .  Not only does this prevent contamination between products but each product requires a different tip size in order to spray properly . Hence the use for your multiple guns. One for each product that you be spraying .

I would expect that to be more important for pros or those doing a lot of painting.

So it sounds like they can be the same gun just different nozzles.  In the Devilbiss set, the guns look different.

So many options, leaves me unsure of what I really should get.  But thanks for the comments.

The starting line set will be a good place to start . Use one gun for the primer probably 1.8 tip and the other gun for your base coat and clear . Should be happy with that

I'm only a DIY painter. I had the same question as you befor I got started.
I ended up buying a low budget paint gun around $ 100 for primer and bougt a middle class quality paint gun for base and clear.
The guy from the store told me since I did'nt have the expierience of a pro I wont notice the difference between a $500 paint gun and a $ 2000 one.
Mine wont last 10 proffesional years but it will last for the paintjob for the Charger.
