Who makes the best 16" electric fan for max cooling? I was looking at a Zirgo 3000 cfm @ Summit, but it has terrible reviews.
It has to be a pusher as I do not have the room between the blower pulleys and radiator.

Hey Steve, here is the fan I use on my car with the 572....works fantastic. I have it set up with an adjustable thermostatic controller from Derale set at 175* and it works like a charm.

My buddy with the roots blower setup ran this same fan on his car with the same excellent results.  :2thumbs:

Both of us use them as pusher fans mounted on the front side of the radiator.  :yesnod:

My Zirgo has worked just fine, fwiw.

Thanks guys, I will check them out!

I run the Summit 16" cheepo brand electric fan with a fan shroud and same Derale fan controller as Ron. This setup works really well in my ride, specially after I added the shroud. I have no heat problems, then again I do not really cruise around that much with my ride.. so...

I called the guy at Rainbow Products and he happened to be down here at the Pigeon Forge Rod Run, so I swung by his booth and picked up one of the fans Ron mentioned.

I installed it with a PWM fan controller from Hayden and took it out for a few minutes yesterday. It stayed cool, but it was only 70 degrees so I will test again on a hotter day.

I'd think the best and most quiet fan would come out of a Mercedes.  I've heard of people using them but they use something else to get around the computer control for the fan?  :Twocents:

I have the Mercedes (W203) fan in my Charger - it is really powerful (600W) and moves tons of air. Also a very nice fit to the 26" radiator. You need a control box (made by a guy over at moparts) to run it (PWM signal is needed).

Maradyne 16" fan is what I use on a built 383...runs 180 max. :coolgleamA: Spall fans are also great but more cash.

Are you running the newest version 3 box?  I'm interested in using the fan as well, but I'd rather just run it off of a switch...

Don't know about "quiet".

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Yes, they call that fan the "Monster" fan for a reason.  Still, if you could successfully install that fan you'd never worry about cooling again...

Ok heres an update on the Rainbow fan. Been running it all summer and its never got above 190. Im running a Milodon pump with a high flow Milodon thermostat (180) and Griffin 2 row (1.5" tubes) radiator. Really pleased with this fan and its not very loud.

So no motor driven fan?  How big of a rainbow fan did you get?

Yes

Ok, that's different from their "Exact" fit radiator which is supposed to require no 'mods to install.  What did you have to do to your radiator to get it to fit and work properly?  Thanks for your responses by the way...

Charger4404spd

The only thing I changed was the L brackets. Had to move them to gain a little more clearance for the blower pulley. I basically moved them flush with the radiator and re-tig welded them. If not for the blower pulley, it would have fit just fine.

Hmmm...I'm thinking your Griffin radiator or A383's ebay radiator.  Do you remember if there are fan shroud mounting holes in your Griffin?  Both seemed to have served each of you well.  Thanks again for your responses...

Charger4404spd

No there are no holes for shroud.

myk

No holes for a shroud?  Great, so how do you attach a shroud to these things?

You can fab some mounts out of aluminum and tig weld them to the radiator. If your not comfortable with doing that and dont have a tig, any fab/welding shop should be able to do it quickly.

WHAT ok back on the want list, lol...

Make sure you get the newer version.  The older fan needs a special controller in order to keep itself from burning out AFAIK...
