Looking for a second opinion. My 68 Chrysler 300 is a power drum brake car. The brakes are actually on the touchy side; it is easy to push them too hard and jerk to a halt. I'm thinking I need to replace the power bake booster. Any other thoughts or more troubleshooting to do? Thanks, John

While a damaged reaction valve in the booster can cause overly-sensitive brakes, so can some other things like an out-of-adjustment booster push rod or contaminated brake shoes.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Decades ago a friends '68 Fury brakes where over sensitive. It ended up being rear axles seals leaking on the shoes which made them grabby. Anything more than light braking caused the rear tires to skid. Replacing the axle seals and brake shoes with proper adjustment fixed it.
