Im asking owners of 1969 bumper jacks to measure the plate that hooks under the bumper. How wide is it, whats the thickness of the plate, and the angles. There's a tool at homedepot that will show you the angles. Dam i wish i had one to inspect. Im tired of searching for these dam jacks and im going to start building them. A better one but based on the same design. Youllllll seeee. But i need the dimensions. Also if you could, please post pictures of the jack set up on the cars bumper. Need to see where it engages, makes contact. ThNKS.

Maybe you should buy one, go to Home Depot and get your tool, do what you want with it, then sell it when your done instead of asking people to waste their time so you can profit from it. :Twocents:

i have my 69 charger jack . i can get some measurements for you, but i kinda agree with Moparpoolman, i don't want to go buy a special tool to get you certain measurements (no offense), plus i might be wrong when i do it, but i will try to help with other ones. if you need certain ones and are going to sell these in the future, then it might be worth buying a jack and the tool and getting all you need. then there wouldn't be questions about if so and so's measurements where off or not.

And...

If somebody lifts a car with one of your jacks and it falls and hurts them... :scratchchin:

Then what ?  :shruggy:

I wouldn't want that on my conscience :eek2:

But if one can pull it off and deems it as a reliable aftermarket product, then I believe that the demand will be there. It will slow down the OEM market and prices will drop.

But as others said I believe that if this is going to be your baby I would invest all my $$$ and research to start the wheel going. I would buy some old OEM jacks without hesitation and just take the gamble if it were me. And if all fails you could at least recoupe some of your investment by reselling the jacks.

Some of you old timers are something else with ya cars. I definitely wont be like that. I have a few guys in my neighborhood just sitting on chargers. Dont even drive tha dam things. Then guess what happens when they die? And ive seen this. Someone either sells tha dam thing for wayyyy less then what they put into it or worse and ive seen this too, one of their family members gets tha dam car and totals it out. They drive it wild and dont care because it didnt mean that much to them any way. I have too of them, and only ones drivable and i drive the hell out of it. They were made to be driven and enjoyed. Ive seen guys like you guys in person and have asked them questions ( this was before and after i got my cars )  and they act like they dont want to respond or act all stuck up or something about their cars. Like they're better than you.  This brings me back to the jack now. What i had in mind trust me was a better jack. It wont be falling on someone. Its really a simple design and a modification. And i wasnt going to sell it. I was going to and still am going to do it and give tha dam dimensions to eeeeeverybody so some other asshole cant try to make money off it. Im gonna load it up on youtube. But just in case though i probably should get a patent on it just in case someone does sell them i will get paid for my idea. Other than that it will be free directions. For all tha rude n stuck up dudes just thought you should know that. I told my buddy about this board and the response i got he said yea thas fucked up huh. One or more of yall shoulda beeeeen came up with a jack idea long ago. Start making these dam jack prices go down. just in case you want one that was original to the car. I dont care anymore. I just want a similar jack to use because i drive mines it dont just sit around. Oh yea one of my neighbors who acts   stuck up,, im gonna have to kiss his ass and ask him if he even still has his jack and would he let me see it for measurements. i hate to have to ask him. Thats why i got on here.

i'm not sure if that was an insult.

but i must say that most guys that own these cars will want a factory correct jack. by "simple design and a modification" you are altering the factory way it was made, therefore IMO i don't think guys will buy them or even if they are free, they will still want the factory jack. i don't think this will have any affect on the prices of factory jacks either, unless you are doing a exact replica. I'm not saying what you are doing is dumb, and i will still get you pics or help in any way. i just don't think people are gonna be lining up to put these jacks in their factory correct cars. and those of us like me who don't have a factory correct car and never will, have a jack that will be there if its ever needed. i believe some have a scissor jack now, its cheaper and safe. i still have my factory jack cause it came with the car. if i didn't i would have bought one from harbor freight or lowes or auto zone. i hope this make some sense, again I'm not knocking your idea and what your trying to do. just try to help you realize the reality of the situation and why these "old timers are something else"

It's hard to understand why the other Charger guys in your neighborhood don't feel like doing you any favors.

I'll post up my jack measurement and pictures in a little bit...

Why is there a "poll"at the top of this post that makes no sense? :shruggy:

Back N Black

99.9% of charger owners don't use the factory jack, its just for show. It was not safe in 69 and there are lot of better options on the market.

I think a better idea is just a similar looking bumper lift that mounts over the hook tab on a cheap and readily available C barge jack set. If you need it to be one assembly, pull the MIG out and fix it that way. If I had an original bumper jack I'd be more than happy to help. My car has had a C body jack in the trunk for years and has been used on several occasions (and at both ends) without incident or damage just the way it is.

I asked one of the guys in my neighborhood does he still have his jack in his 68 Charger and could i look at it. He said no. He threw it away years ago when he was changing a tire on the side of the freeway and a car flew past him and the swoosh knocked the car off the jack. Got dam!! Cat find the jack at a good price or let alone see one in person. Ill ask this other neighbor does he have his jack. He has a 70 or 72  but hes had a lot on 68s and 69s in the past maybe he has a dam jack layin around.
