If you are in to drag racing, lets see the time slips and a little about the car.

I will start, 1972 Charger, weighs 4000#, PS, PB, A/C, full interior, 360 engine, headers, Air Gap intake, Holley Street Avenger 670, A518 with 3.91 gears.

Best time was 14.93 at 92 MPH. 2014 at LVMS during MATS.

1972 Charger Topper Special, 360ci, 46RH OD trans, 8 3/4 sure grip with 3.91 gear, 14.93@92 mph.
1973 Charger Rallye, 4 speed, muscle rat. Whatever engine right now?

We don't have a 1/4 mile strip close to where I live but several 1/8 mile strip's within driving range. I never ran my charger with the 440 in it but I ran it a couple of times with the 383 and best I got with the 383 was 9.21 in the 1/8th mile. It was a mild built 383 with full body car estimated 4000 lbs P/S, P/B, with a 670 street avenger carb with a 4 speed and 355 gear. I was hoping for at least high 8's but it didn't happen. After the 440 went in I never made it back to the strip to get my 8 second time slip but I know it would have ran a good 8 second pass with the 440 in there. A 3.91 gear would have helped alot with the 383 but I drive it alot on the highway and the 3.55 likes the highway a little better than a 3.91 gear.

I thought we had a thread like this in the performance forum?  (I'm likely wrong though)  :shruggy:

The car pictured in my signature is the ride that posted the best below times. I have sold the car but am looking for another. 440 bored .030 Comp cam xe 268, auto originally a 383 H code car. The tranny was totally stock, 3.23 sure grip, auto, ps, pb, air, rear defroster. Nice car sometimes wish I still had it. The best time it ran was 102 mph at 13.98. Can't find the time slip...its somewhere on my computer..

I don't want to embarrass the Charger with an official time slip.  If my 2V Mustang can out-pull it then the Charger is a mid 15 second car at best... :eek2:

Don't let that put you off, drag racing is a BLAST!  You'd love it no matter how quick the car is Myk.

Absolutey. I am only running high 14's. Thats slow by todays standards. I started out in the mid 15's that day. With practice I improved. It was a blast! Now with some carb tuning I cant wait till my next opportunity to run the car again.

Paul, what tires are you running?   Are you having traction issues off the line?

BFG Radial TA 275/60 15. They would spin if hit hard off the line. My 60' time is poor. Reaction time could use improvement as well. There is a lot going on sitting at the tree. Tire pressures made a big difference. Paying attention to the lights makes a big difference as well.

Wanna get the old 318 out on the track this year, see how slow it is.

This was my best (and last) run at the track with my car back in 2006!
Pedaling it all the way on radials.  I had a blast that day...wonder why I havent made it back :scratchchin:
13.55 @ 102

Mild 440 with 9.3:1 compression.... at the time a 750 vac sec Holley, Edelbrock CH4B intake, stock HP exh manifolds & full 2.5" exhaust with Hemi mufflers

You're right.  The real shame is not doing it.

BTW Chris' setup has me intrigued.  To get his performance I guessed you'd need a street thumping, unstreetable monster that only ran right when the stars were just right.  9:1 compression, CH4B intake, factory manifolds and a 13 second time slip?  That's freaking awesome and if I could get my car to those specs and combine it with my new handling package I'd consider the car perfect...

Very streetable Myk...93 octane is all it needs.  backed up that run with another 13.59 against this friggin sweet GTX (of which I was seriously considering buying at the time).  He red lighted & still couldnt catch me! ;)

The 440 is an incredible drag racing engine. :yesnod:

I cant put my hands on any of mine... kinda maki g me angry. But i do have a youtube video of my 13.21@ 105 pass. That was.... 13 years ago i think. Not longer after i put my lowly pump gas 383 together backed to a slipping 727 and 2.76 gears.

Sorry for the horrific quality. 69 charger at the track: https://youtu.be/te8dfDlOITo

Here is my run from last year. Bad day. 1st pass was caught offguard with a pro tree when the test and tune is suppose to get a full tree so i left at idle and bogged through the 60' at 2.99 seconds.... the 2nd run scattered another axle.

Hmmm....what if I can only get 91?  Also, are you running the stock heads?

I've got a 383 magnum ported 906 heads ceramic coated hp manifolds comp cam forged pistons and built 727 tranny with i believe 323 or 355 gears... I figure I'm somewhere around 350-375hp and if she could run a 14.5 I'd be happy.

Now that I think about it, it seems crazy i've never ran the charger at Famosa Raceway even though me and my friends have been there so many times for our diesel trucks.

It's kinda sad that my 8,000 pound Duramax Diesel 2500HD truck could run a 12.7 and the Charger I'd hope for a 14.5

Haven't had my 69 at the track for quite a few years but ran 12.90 s all the time. Best was 12.92 at 106.5. Mildly built 440,had 6 pak on it at the the time,727 3000 stall, 4.10 Dana. Weighed 3990 with me in it.

Here's the Black Pig's best ET/MPH with the old pump gas 446 under the hood. That engine combo made 535hp/540tq and the raceweight was 4100lbs at the time !  :icon_smile_big:

The other car was my buddy's blown 68 Coronet. His car was quite a bit faster than mine and quite a bit lighter as well....400 lbs lighter  :o

That was a fun day....the track was working/hooking well and the air density was killer. Both cars ran new bests

Hey Geoff,

Mine is the slower car on that timeslip : 11.68@116  ;)

The new 572 is a beast....it makes sooo much torque that I haven't been able to make a clean pass. Suspension is in need of some tweaking and I've got some fuel delivery gremlins to sort out. The Pig now has a fuel cell, relocated battery (trunk) and manual steering. Those upgrades took 100lbs off the nose of the car which should help a bunch with weight transfer.

Looking at a shock upgrade to a quality double adjustable to help plant the tires and keep it from spinning the hides.  :drive:

So far it's been high 10's but I'm hoping for mid-low 10's once it's all sorted out. The rollbar is legal to 10.0/135mph so that's what I'm shooting for.  :yesnod:
