THE CHARGER PUNK

has anyone seen them in the past or now? do they even exist or did he wreck them back then???-MATT

tipopiola

I know there was an article in Mopar Muscle or Mopar Action a year and a half or 2 years ago about one of his 68's that had been found.  The painful part of that it was found on Fort Hall indian reservation in Pocatello, Idaho by someone who had no idea what it was.  He was just gonna use it for a parts car.  I had scoured that reservation with my brother looking for mopars (theres still a ton of GM stuff there), and we didn't come up with much.  That article came out a few months after I had searched around the reservation so apparently someone told the guy what he had and he probably made a fortune off it.  It had no drive train, but was originally a 440 R/T auto car.  Still had all the decals and paint on it so I can't imagine how it would have sat there for that long without anyone recognizing it.  Oh well, I've got enough on my plate anyway.  Tipopiola :icon_smile_big:

heres one  ---  his 68 i think ?  The 1968 was a a heater delete car - it was not a R/T - the 1969 was
1968 Dodge Charger - 6.1L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.55 Sure Grip

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1964 Dodge Polara 500 - 440 / 4-speed / 3.91 Sure Grip

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

Just proves there are still some 2nd-gen scores to be found.  The price has gone up, but they're still out there.

That pic of the 68 is the one from the magazine that tipopiola was talking about
Mopar Or No Car!!!!!!!!

Of course, we still haven't answered the question about what happened to either car as far as where they are right now.

Don't know where they are now, but heres one "back then".

i also remember reading about that charger in a mopar magazine,  wasn't the reservation miles away from the nearest road ,may be Dick Landy has records of the vin numbers some were, to prove when and if the cars are found they are the original cars, because back in the 70's there must have few  "  look a likes " built buy  landy fans .

I don't recall ever seeing Landy's 69 in that color scheme before with the yellow stripes and yellow brake drums.

Heres an interview with Landy, towards the end he talks about what cars he still owns, or has control over, as he put it. No mention of the Chargers, but good reading anyways.

Wow, thanks for the link.  I have been a Landy fan for many many years and he just doesn't do many interviews and it's kind of sad because he has a lot of things to share and he's an interesting speaker to boot.

I have been a Landy fan as well, since as long as I can remember. I never knew he didn't actually "smoke" the trademark cigars he always has hanging out of his mouth, until I read that interview.

I've got 100's of old pictures, I'm only 28, I wish I could have been around "back then"  :'(
This is my favorite Landy car, a local guy has a 318 67 Coronet for $1500 that I'm pondering buying and turning into one like this...
(sorry for the big pic)

262chargers

Not a Landy car, but how about an AWB first gen?  :icon_smile_cool:
