So the new owner buys it in January on a nationally televised auction, and is already thinking that there is enough money left in it to have it in another big auction :scratchchin: In a way I hope he hits a home run with it, but in another way, I wish an enthusiast would have been overjoyed at buying such a nice car and enjoyed it for 10 years.

I feel the same way. --- It seems the present owner only bought it because they saw something left in it's value. (A flipper?)
What a crazy situation it is to work a car like this to find that one or two buyers in a weak moment. It is easy to draw from this and others like it that the top end cars are moved more often by speculators. :shruggy:
I'm the sort that would love to own and enjoy that car but my interest comes from my past when driving them for enjoyment was the big deal. For the money it would take to drive this car for fun??-- It's out of my budget.

Interesting.  That being the case, why are the two white with red int Hemi's still for sale just above that (assuming they are still on the market, off and on)? Or is this car just that nice?

If it wood have bin my ticket this 500 wood be coming home with me in two weeks

This 500 came out of Belleville Ontario. A friend of mine bought it from the original owner and had it restored here in Cobourg.
Glenn sold it to a fellow in western Ontario in the 90s. It then went to England and sold to Tim about 10 years ago in a package with several 71 Hemi B-bodies and a 70 AAR Cuda.

A very nice 500 with a lot of options.

So went for 150 before fees.   I guess it worked, for a small profit given hauling it back and forth, etc.

No money in this deal. The $135K at Mecum was before fees. Add the buyer fee at 10% he had $148,500 plus possible taxes and two moves. Even if there were no taxes the prime spot at Barrett was probably $1,500 or more. The selling fees at Barrett were probably 8% so take off another $12,000.
I would guess he lost close to $10,000.

Went lower (twice) than other Hemi's lately.    Seems to have a well known history.   The color held it down?

Barrett takes 10% from seller and 10% from buyer. So at 150000 the seller got 135000 not deducting any other expenses.  So the seller is not a good flipper: seller= :brickwall:  those of us who can't stand the flippers= :smilielol:

Somewhere I have the 500 Emblems off that car...I bought them at a swap meet after he sold the car. I figured if I couldn't own the car I might as well own one small part lol

Not sure where you are going here.   If it hammered at 150k, at 10% in both directions, the seller netted $135k.   The seller paid $165k.  The house made $30k.

Does Barrett not charge an entry fee?
Prime time Saturday afternoon would normally be a costly spot at most auctions.
At any rate he lost money due to transport and the buyer fees he paid Mecum in January.
The price paid would indicate this is a nice 500. The buyer looked pretty happy to have it.

So it doesnt have the luggage rack it was supposed to come from the factory with?? I would say it is worth about half as much as the others then....joking of course. I was surprised the write up on the car spent so much time discussing a luggage rack, but ok.

moparchris

The White car has a lot number of 1441 ( or close to that)  I don't think there is any way they have made it through 1400 cars since Monday.  Usually a 1400 number is a Friday car.

I thought that was a pretty decent deal. Nice car although it was behind the velvet ropes (which I hate but after seeing the people walking through BJ I understand).

Yea, I think the market has gone south for the Aero cars lately....most all of those that crossed the block that I saw went for less money than I would have guessed

JB400

I don't know. They had a brown Hemi 500 that went for $135k.

moparchris

I went back and read the descriptions for both cars and it was very clear in the Brown 500's description that it still had the born-with drivetrain whereas the White car that was never mentioned.  Perhaps the drivetrain situation accounted for the difference in prices.
Other than that they would really be pretty equal cars, with more buyers probably preferring White over Brown. :Twocents:

Highwaystar

This car reminds me of the white 500 from the F.A.S.T series that was for sale a few years ago that was a rebody, but this car does say in the Ad above that it's original motor and tranny, so I'm not sure why it went so cheap. Maybe too many Aero cars went thru the auctions lately, and run out of buyers.

I agree, I could see the pedigree collector finding that a strike against the white 500.  White as a color has come around, but I still think for some collectors and older crowd... it is not that desirable, not that a bronze/brown would be either I suppose.

Quite honestly, although the A4 with blue interior 500 is one of my very favorites but never seen in person, I think this white with black hemi car with non numbers is my very favorite of all 500s.  Maybe he would trade for my old driver wouldn't that be a funny long shot.  That W1 with black combo is great for me and hemi to boot..

Lots of really rare cars out there but there are some cars like the 42 or whatever hemi convertibles Ebody's and some selected others that will be destined for the rarest of the rare.  At my ripe older age, I could see a presentable original paint W1 318 SE with red interior and sunroof 69 Charger (made up car) clearly a one of one will never be worth that much, but sure would be neat.  Many ...many really rare cars including some hemis just are not a convertible Ebody Hemi.  The 500s have finally started to come around, but I wonder some days if the average buyer of a 69 would just rather have an RT (not sure why 500s are great...).  The super stock Darts are interesting to watch value on as a comparison for me.
