Actually, Pennzoil meets Chrysler MS standards.   :2thumbs:
Also - it's OEM fill at the plants.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Coulda used convenience store oil as long as it was changed regularly.  People who neglect their cars like that shouldn't be allowed to own one.  Then again, they provide work for local businesses so it's all good...

Reminds me of when I worked at a Pontiac Dealership about 15 years ago. A young lady (early 20s) came in with a Pontiac Sunfire with about 70-75k miles on it. When the engine was opened up... it look just like those photos, under the valve covers and in the oil pan, it looked like black jello. When they asked the girl when was the last time she had the oil changed, she replied.... "Are you supposed to change the oil". The car never had an oil change, lol. Of course the service writer we had at the time fudged paper work, and got warranty to cover it... that used to piss me off about that place, if someone had a lot of money, or was just plain stupid they would do what they could to get GM to warranty the repairs, or work with the customer to lower the price. If it was an ordinary working man/woman needing their car serviced or repaired... they would take them for a ride.

Maybe she put out for the repairs.  In any case, even if you could get these engines going again, wouldn't there be so much wear in them that they'd be that much closer to failure anyway?

IIRC, I think we rebuilt that engine.... machine work, new bearings, rings, everything. Maybe it was replaced with a crate engine, but I think that one got rebuilt... that was a long time ago.

Warranty rate does not pay as much as regular labor rate. I don't think she could afford to pay labor, so they write it up as warranty just to get the job... a lower warranty rate is still better than no rate.

That Audi reminds me of a High School buddy that purchased a used 1964 Dart GT.  The Dodge was in petty good condition for a 15 year old car.  But, the engine sounded as if it was trying to disassemble itself...the lifters made a very loud tappet noise as if they were not getting any oil at all.  The engine didn't smoke...more than likely because the old wasn't circulating through the bottom end.  And, the engine appeared to be producing full power.
My friend wanted to do an oil change but a mechanic told him not to touch the oil since it hadn't been changed in such a long time, and changing it would only create problems.  So for the next year or so he owned it....the Dart never received an oil change.  He did clean up the mess under the valve covers and gave it a good tune up.  He sold it to a shop that restored older cars.....they striped that poor Dart as they only wanted the front clip....

Painter I worked with in the 90's never changed the oil in his Ford p/u's. He still got close to 200k mile out of them  :shruggy:
