I spotted that eBay ad and briefly wondered if it was yours MTD.
I reckon that's a pretty reasonable dollar figure.

Any news, Mark? Has it sold??  :popcrn:

Not yet. I've talked with people from Holland, Germany, Canada, NY, CT, FL, NC & a couple other states. One local guy came here on Tuesday to look at it & I have another coming on Friday, so we'll see what happens.

For what the car is, i think so. You certainly couldn't build one for what I'm asking, but some have made me lowball offers. The chrome and stainless on this car is near perfect and it rides down the road nice & smooth with no squeaks or rattles. Sure, it's not a R/T, but go find another one.

:yesnod:

That's as close as you can get to one in that condition without going back in time 40 years.    That's a car that needs to be preserved not restored.

Let's say it came with a 318, how much do you guys think it would affect the value?  :scratchchin:  I would love it just the same, but it is really cool it's a 383hp  :2thumbs:

yep , agreed !! IMO cant put a value on these type of unrestored cars !!

like MTD said !& as we all know  where do you find another  ,  :shruggy:  .   restored cars are all over the place ,  :yesnod:  if you have the dough , & you lose out on 1 buy , there is always another round the corner , with certain models etc !   miss out on this unrestored or a unrestored charger for 40k or what ever ,  where do you get another ?? there is not another round the corner , that's for sure !

did anyone ever find out the history on this car  , how it became what it is ! a time warp charger ! :coolgleamA:

Would be a great General Lee car since the inside is already tan.

That's funny!

That's very funny. LOL  :smilielol:
Turbine, very. very nice car.  Not a huge beige fan, but I would never molest it.

I wasn't a fan of the color till I saw it. Once I got rid of the white letter tires and put white line tires on it, it took on a new look. Yes, I admit that it looks like an old person's car, but to me part of the charm is that it's just a nice looking "regular" Charger.

ACUDANUT

I did not want to say that. "Old Person's car"  But it really does have those colors.   It belongs in a Museum, like others have stated.

Most Chargers looked like old people's cars back in the day.  I hope a new owner can appreciate this car and keep that stock look.  The rust needs to be repaired though.

Sometimes.... that is exactly how it starts though ?
By the time a guy removes the rear window to fix the rust ? then check under the vinyl top beside the rust ? then finds some starting on the other side at the window corner ?
just say'in..... you would have to assess that one spot very carefully towards a very "targeted" repair ?
or,
just maybe leave it 100% as is ?

That's how mine ended up with a complete "exterior only" repaint.... 2 very small window corner repairs, then some rust was found around one of the wheel well molding screws, etc., next thing they knew it was just better to re-spray the whole car ?
Mind you... that was back in 1984 when no one had heard of the term "survivor" Car ? they honestly thought they were making it better re-spraying and "sprucing it back up"" ?

Agreed.

You can't have a survivor and a perfect car at the same time.  If you want a perfect car then don't buy a survivor.  These things weren't even perfect when they were new.

Some people insist that leaving a little bit of rust like that is "letting the car deteriorate."  Yeah, maybe if you store the car outside in the snow all year around.  But not if you treat it like what it is.  It's a $40,000 antique to be stored in an enclosed garage.

Those rust spots will worsen with time - SLOWLY.  Fixing them will cost the car a lot more at this stage.

I agree as well. This cars best future is as it is. The small rusty areas can be controlled.
The best hope for this car is that it be preserved.  If that doesn't happen then that would only make cars like this even more coveted.

You may be on to something.  Just think of all those old baby boomers at that nursing home who had one of these.

I may be mistaken, but I think that was for sale here in Clearwater/St.Pete about a year ago... If it isn't the same car, there is one here exactly like it!

There are viable alternatives to cutting out small amounts of rust, I'd seal it off from air and more moisture, Por15 does do a good job if that's what you want to do.  I'd leave it as is until the rust ruins the exterior panels.  Treat it, seal it, keep it dry and the car will last a long time without getting much worse.

There weren't a whole lot of them made this color, so I doubt there are many floating around.  This was the only one I'd seen like my rt se, till another owner contacted me about his.  Always have wondered where my car actually came from dealer wise, I lost track of its history in Alabama in the early 70s, mine hasn't left Florida since I got it.
69 RT/SE Y3 cream yellow w/tan vinyl top and black r/t stripe. non matching 440/375, 3:23, Column shift auto w/buddy seat, tan interior, am/fm w/fr to back fade, Now wears 17" magnum 500 rims and Nitto tires. Fresh repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires.

I don't understand why it has not sold so quick considering all the praise that it has recieved so far. Are chargers falling in value ?

Lord Warlock

40 large will make many people think hard about it.  But its turnkey and a good buy.  An RT or RTSE that nice I'd expect them to get it easy.

The car was in Florida for several years, although I don't know where.

I would love to own it, but who has 40 grand to drop on a car and let it sit in a garage to preserve it. I'm sick of looking at my car in the garage for the last 5 months waiting for the snow to melt.

Actually, why let it sit? This is by far, the best driving Charger that I have owned in decades. If one were to put a couple thousand miles or so on the car per year, there's no problem with that.
