So I am getting close to putting the wipers back on.

where do you get new blades and how do you clean the metal. what is the plan of attack on those.

2nd gens used a 15" wiper blade. Trico has introduced them under their "classic" line.
Just did a quick search on eBay using "Charger 15 wipers", a bunch came up including these:

The blade housings are just slightly different, and do not appear to say Trico on them. If your housings are good, then I would just try to find 15" wiper refills.
The blades & arms can be cleaned up using a good metal polish.

I agree with Bill, a nice chrome or metal polish will work nicely.
My 73 came originally with Anco blades which are the 3 piece.  I'm not sure about second gen, and while I am not positive I believe the first gens came with them as well since they had that funny wind piece on them to push them to the windshield.
I got quite lucky, my dad had saved every one of the blades he'd replaced on our cars over the years so I had a nice set of 15 inch Anco blades to put on the cars.
Fillers on the other hand are getting difficult to find, at least around here.  Especially for 15 inch blades.  Everything seems to be 18 and up now.

i like to get the later model nos truck arms and modify them to look just like original b body one. not only do they look like new , the spring hasnt been streched for nearly 50 years so the work great too.

I would go with the new Trico blades. You can find them at most Trico dealers, but may have to special order. Last time I bought them they were like $8 each.

Pep Boys sold a refill, but it wasn't exact. It didn't have the same metal humps in the brace strip that didn't seat the blade the correct way on the glass.

I would not polish the arms. 2nd gens have a frosted appearance. If you polish them, you will remove that stock frosted patina. It does make a difference. You realize it once the sun starts reflecting off shiny wiper arms right into your eyes.

Right, I wouldn't polish them either to a bright shine.
I would just use a metal polish lightly to clean them up a bit. Just something to remove the staining or discoloration. It works if done carefully.  :2thumbs:

I have the original arms, they appear to just have a dull mill finish. They do have the 3-piece arms and are all metal construction.

looks a bit fragile also.

I would agree to some light polishing.

Well, if you know of a polish that wont shine up the metal at all, cool beans. All the ones I tried had some sort of compound in them designed to "polish" that reduced the dull appearance. I ended up using a metal cleaner designed for wheels. I can't remember the brand, but it was all liquid, not creamy at all (sure sign of compound).

I actually attempted to shine mine up as much as possible but they wouldn't do it. What ended up happening in the end was a good scrub down with 0000 steel wool and they look fine. That dull patina look will most likely return.

And as for the blades, I went the new classic Trico route and Baxter's has/had them in stock (not sure if Baxter's is a national chain).
