primming a 383 oil pump

Hard Charger

Getting ready to fire up the car after 4 years.

I need to prime the oil pump, so the drive gear needs to be removed to insert the priming tool.

Does that drive gear just slip out? or is there a process that need to be done.

Just keep in mind you need to clock it correctly when you put it back in

by clocking you mean have the flat receiver for the distributor in the same position?

yes, put it back in correctly or you will have issues getting it to run

Yes you should try to put it back in the same position You can be off a tooth or two just be prepared to retime the distributor.

Just use a screwdriver to turn the gear and it'll pop right up so you can pull it out easily.
WANTED: NOS or excellent condition 72-74 4 speed shifter boot for bench or centre armrest car, part number 3467755. It's a rubber boot that looks like it's sewn up leather.
