Looks good. I painted mine too but I did the entire second hand in white. Now I'm thinking maybe just the center button should be black. :scratchchin:

My old clock with a new pic. :icon_smile_big:

what if the second hand was painted the bright red/orange some cars came with way back when . . . . what do you guys think about that idea?  :shruggy:

That would probably be pretty cool.

What would be really cool is if the second hand was the rpm needle and it went from  0 to 6,000 rpm and back to zero every minute.

Yes. It's just some hobby shop clock that you can pull apart so I made the face on the computer and swapped it out.

Gotta keep up with the Jones'!

I got mine, the one that has Charger in script below the hands. (You can get it without that script.) You can't really tell in the pics but this is a photo shop of the picture for a repop Tic Toc Tach that is laminated to a clear disk. There is no 3D layering like the real thing and the tach needle is just part of the picture. The is no cover or dome over it the hands just sit on top of the disk exposed.
I asked if white hands were available...no. Looking close at the real item I noticed these hands are a bit longer, someone could cut them down a bit for not much effort if your good at such things. I also noticed the hands on the original, the second hand should have just a short white stub across from the center black dot from the long pointer and the hour and minute hands have nothing across from the pointers. The black hands are kinda hard to see against the black dial so here's what I did.
The second hand just pulls off, it has a pin that sticks into a tiny tube. I took a finger nail clipper and cut the fat part of the plastic across from the pointer off.
The next hand (minute hand) has a tiny barrel nut holding it in place, mine unscrewed easy and that hand just falls off. It has flat spots in the hole that hold it's position. I took my clippers and cut the thing sticking out the backside of the hands pointer off. The hour hand is last and is a tight fit to a plastic tube, it was a bit of effort to remove And install. I clipped the plastic across from the pointer on that one also.
I masked the black center dot areas on all hands and shot them with some white paint. It all came out looking much more like the real thing when reassembled.
Now if I can find a cheap clock with a thin chrome bezel and face cover I'll be done.  :2thumbs:

Neal_J

My bride gave me the clock for our anniversary.   Thanks Heather!~

Like others, I painted the hands white.  Using B5Blue's idea, earlier today I found an old clock at a junk shop having a chrome bezel and a domed glass lens.

The junk clockface itself was about 1/2" larger than the Tic Toc Tac, so I sprayed the junk clock edges black and epoxied the Tic Toc clock atop it (cutting holes in the junk face for the clock guts).

A little chrome polish and windex and presto, I now have a unique version.  Awesome!

b5blue

Nice! That's what I'd like to do exactly!

Neal_J

Ran into some trouble with the domed lens.  First, it stopped the second hand.  Second, it was a pain to disassemble the entire clock just to set the time.

While I'd prefer a glass lens, removing it solved both problems.

I'm assuming that these clocks are ran by electric? If so I would've kept the glass lens on and just unplug the clock and then plug it back in at the correct time. This is providing that you could've solved the other problem of the second hand from interfering with the lens.

Just my  :Twocents:

They run on a AA battery. How about shortening the second hand? :shruggy:

b5blue

There is a round button on the back of the clock. You turn it to advance or retard the time.  :scratchchin:
