how to replace glove box insert?

Hi guys
this may sound silly but what is the best way to install a new glove box in a 70 Charger w/ AC? The old cardboard one was completely rotted and came right out..... I thought the new one would just slide in from the front but it doesn't seem to be that easy.

It has to be folded to fit. There should be visible creases on the cardboard to indicate where to fold.

Aaaaaaahhhhh...thanks for that, although I'll have to improvise as I don't see creases on my particular piece...

Hmmm.. I am not seeing any creases that would make this fit through the door hole.

Did mine last fall i tried to collapse it the best i could to get it to fit in the hole from the out side- i do remember it being a bitch to get in than not all the screw holes lined up but it is in now, not really going any where not much room after you get it in there.

it kinda sucked to do with the dash on a bench with all those screws and little access on the top and bottom to help align the insert.

can't you get it up into place from below the dash?

 its a pain ,  remove all screws , & has to be compressed a bit to remove , the glove box lamp side comes out first at a angle

What the other guys said John. Make sure the kids aren't around because confidence is high
that you'll be using many of your "persuasion words" getting the new box in. Def take the box light out first.
When I did mine it didn't have noticeable fold/compress crease lines on it either. It would appear
other manufacturers' boxes do. I got mine in through the front, no way to get it in from behind.
My car is a non-AC car so I don't know if you have even less room behind the box opening to
work with. I removed the glove box door as well but it was still a bitch. Good luck buddy.

HI Guys,

Thank you very much for the help with this project. After closer evaluation.... I found the creases. I took your advice Tom. Some Persuasive language definitely helped get it in J.  I took the door and latch catch off as well as took the light bulb out. Once I accepted the fact that I wasn't going to be able to get it in without a little bit of wear on it I just squeezed and shoved and got it in.

So it looks like once it is installed the option of putting the bulb back in is gone. I had my son help with his little fingers through the hole but it basically wound up with the bulb being dropped in the dash somewhere.... Oh well.... I hope it doesn't rattle cause I don't intend to take the box out to chase it down!
