To wet sand/buff a 67 Nova? It's for a friend of mine, car was painted about a year ago, so I reckon the clear will probably be hard as a rock. It mainly has some nibs/trash on top surfaces, but he isn't concerned with that as much as getting a good slick shine, looks like it was painted in a shop with little ventilation, and has some overspray settle on it. Its a Drag Car, he is wanting to make look better, because he will be starting back racing soon.

What would be a fair 'friend' price without giving it to him... or me screwing myself?

Prob take all of a day. You thinking 2000g block then trizac (3000g)
Then prob 4 step buff...that's a $1000 plus product.  :shruggy:
That whole "buddy price" thing only works if you can work a trade. Otherwise you're just sellin yourself short.  :Twocents:

Wow, $1,000 for one day of work. Is that a 8 hour day? LEON.

I never get through wetsanding a whole car in a day. But that's just me.  Buddy price just means you're willing to give away a lot of your time for free.   I painted a hood for a neighbor, then wetsanded and buffed the entire car afterwards, and didn't come close to recouping my hours worked. He still has the car sitting unused in his garage 6 years later.   Took me 2-3 days, but didn't work 8 straight hours on it, my arms wouldn't last that long.

Dilemmas like these are very tough.
How close of a friend is he?  For close friends, sometimes bartering is best. Or, they just pay for the materials.
If you feel you have to charge something, maybe figure out what it would cost a "pro" to do the work, then cut it in half & add calculated materials.  :shruggy:

It's not a one-day job for sure. I find though that some clears sand/polish better once they are fully cured. Reduces die-back, too.
I dunno, TOUGH question. Best to work it out between the both of you, perhaps.  :Twocents:

You get screwed on a buddy deal anytime it's a "buddy deal" unless he will do a "buddy deal" for you later you'll be screwed.
Personally I wouldn't touch it as I've been screwed before. Next time your buddy might think that you will do same "buddy deal" for him and keep giving you these "buddy deals" and after a while you'll be asking yourself "why the hell am I doing this?"
You just have to say "no" sometimes and its better to say it earlier than later.
