BLK 68 R/T

Exhaust photos. I wrapped the head pipes just to see if it helps with firewall heat transfer and underhood temps at all. I also used the band clamps on the exhaust so you can take it apart easily if needed. They seem to work really well at holding the pipes together, so we will see how they do long term. Car still needs a good detailing when it is all together to get all the dirt/dust/cobwebs and sanding residue cleaned up.

Fuel system. Have some nice wrap to put on the fuel lines, also some stainless steel zip ties to replace all the temporary plastic ones. I used a battery cable bracket that usually mounts on the inner fender below the master cylinder to hold the fuel lines up, mounted to a hole that was already in the lip of the firewall. The original 5/16 feed line was used as the return line for the EFI. New 3/8 rubber fuel line was also ran under the car and wrapped with heat insulation where it goes over the rear axle and is close to the exhaust.

Some of the electrical system. I made a new drawing detailing all of the modifications that I will attach here as well. I also have them in excel form listed out. Sorry for all the dirt in the pictures, everything has a good coat of dust on it  ;)

This is what is in excell, but also in a line diagram drawing that I made.

Major modifications done:
Main + cable w/aux lead, # 2 gauge, 48" long                     Items that need connected:
Main - cable is 4 gauge with aux lead                                     # 6 wire to starter relay from power stud
To the battery aux leads on cables - Fast EFI Wires                     MSD Positive
To the power stud:                                                             Headlight upgrade
a) # 6 wire to battery +                                                     Electric fan
b) # 6 wire to starter relay                                                     Alternator charge wire
c) Power wire to the aux. fuse box                                             EFI wiring
Notes:
Alternator charge wire connected to the power stud under battery, and # 6 cable from power stud will be connected into one ring attached to the + post on batt.

#6 cable will then continue onto the starter relay stud.
Connected to the power stud will be a 6 output fuse box connected to the power stud with a  # 8 wire. Onlt the MSD wire will be connected for now, with room for the headlight upgrade, electric fan, ect.

Wiring modifications to car as of 9/24/2016:
1. All original wires to ballast resistor connected together - this creates 2 leads which are now "hot" in the start and run position by tying ign 1 and ign 2 together

2. Field wire from alternator to voltage regulator has been eliminated
3. Original blue wire for coil + will be for MSD 12v hot in start and crank position
4. Original blue wire for voltage regulator will be 12v power supply for EFI in start and crank position
5. AMP gauge disconnected and wires crimpes/soldered together on the back side
6. Heavy black and heavy red wire for amp gauge disconnected on backside of firewall bulkhead and connected together, then wired to a heavy gauge fused wire going to starter relay stud

7. Original fusible link wire removed from circuit (see #6 above)
8. One wire, 100 amp, tuff-stuff alternator installed
9. MSD tach adapter is installed on top of ashtray and wired in per MSD specs. Rest of the tach harness is homemade and installed as per OEM spec on the dash side. Engine side is connected via the wiper plug and connected to the tach output (gray wire) from the MSD ignition box

10. A/C input wire to the EFI is located in the wiper motor harness, bumps idle speed 50 RPM when a/c turns on
11. EFI 12v supply, hot in crank and run wire goes to the wiper motor harness. Connected to the original blue wire for the voltage regulator
12. "Fan on" input also hooked up to the backside of the firewall bulkhead, not in use at this time, EFI controller will control a fan
13. #10 Ground wire added (per tuff stuff) from alternator ground stud and connected to the alternator mounting  bolt
14. Ground wire added from engine block to firewall, one added from engine block to frame rail as well on pass side bottom, rear of engine
15. Fuel pump wiring is connected in the trunk with a quick connect coupling to the ez efi fuel pump controller
16. Fuel pump ground is connected to the exhaust bracket inside the car under the rear seat

Few pictures of some modifications. I was originally wanting to find a group 27 battery with side terminals and top posts, but that proved impossible for me. I finally reserved myself to the idea that no matter how I tried it, in order to follow the FAST instructions of hooking directly to the battery, I would not be able to do exactly what I wanted. So I did the best I could. All of my connections are crimped, soldered and shrink wrapped. I borrowed a crimping tool from work to do most of the larger connections, it is a battery powered crimper with different dies to fit it. on my battery cable I used adhesive lined shrink tube on the ends, then wrapped the harness in the cloth tape like the factory did.

New battery cable, the + and - for the EFI are connected directly to the pigtails on the battery cables, everything else is fed off of a power stud mounted below the battery tray on the core support, I also added a auxiliary fuse panel there as well.

Additional grounds added to the original headlight grounds. On all of the ground connections I did, I added the serrated star washers to ensure a good ground connection.

My additional fuse panel. Only thing hooked up so far is the MSD power. Lots of other connections though for any additional items I may add in the future. I also have a 4 gauge cable running to the inner fender in addition to the one going to the engine block.

MSD box, painted black to blend in, mounted to an aluminum panel which is mounted to the core support.

Alternator wiring and inline fuse for it. Wire loom beside it is all the MSD wiring, it runs through the very bottom of the core support to the MSD box. Helps to keep it somewhat hidden that way. Still have to clean up the horns and mount them as well as the washer pump motor.

Thanks. No, not polishing it on the car. I am using 6 in buff wheels, 3 different ones for each polish level, on my bench grinder. Start with a sisal wheel, then a polish wheel and then a final polish wheel.

Thank you. Yes, headliner is laid out right now. Waiting for a sunny day to pull it out in the sun for a while to help it de-wrinkle a bit. Then, install time.
