BLK 68 R/T

Thank you for all the warm welcomes to the site that I have received so far in the post a car pic thread! I will post pictures to this thread as I progress on the car.

Here is a pic of my current project. 68 Charger R/T. I had known about this car for the past 15 years or so. The previous owner also had a roadrunner that needed some work done to it and he initially was going to pay me to work on his roadrunner for him and get it back on the road, well about 2 weeks into working on the roadrunner he said instead of paying me to work on his roadrunner he would sign the charger over to me once I was done with his roadrunner. So 1 year later after working on his other car the charger is now mine. He had a lot of work done already to the car, underside, jams, engine bay, trunk and interior is all painted shiny black. He also had a 500 inch stroker engine built. I just sold my 70 superbee and 68 GTX to finance the rest of the charger. I plan on installing FAST EFI, A/C, new wheels and tires and a few other mods to make it handle good. Oh, yea, and paint one day as well..... ;D

My new project outside the shop on the trailer heading to it's new home

Here is my 68 GTX that I sold to help finance the charger

Here is a pic of the car as I received it

Another glove box sticker, from a trade in I think - hard to read the writing, but its dated 1968 and mileage around 15,000

Out of curiosity, what are your plans for paint color?

I am planning on a triple black car. Everything else is done already in black, jambs, engine bay, interior and trunk. It will most likely need blocked out and primed again before painting.

The good thing is the car went to a good home, I know the guy who bought it from me. Him and his wife are going to fix it up and drive it.

Gidday and Welcome too.

Looks like your off to a fast Charging start  :icon_smile_big: Wheels look good too, sizes?
I'm interested to see how your efi sets up and works out, have been idly considering it for a while now.

Wheels are 17 x 8 front with 245/45s tires. 18 x 9.5 rear with 285/40s. I am looking forward to getting the motor installed and hooking up the EFI as well. From all the reviews and articles I have read about it, I think it will be just the ticket. I am going to have to install longer wheel studs and get some different lug nuts, one with a shoulder at the base vs the standard chrome lug nut. With stock length studs I only get about 6 turns with the lug nut before its against the wheel.

I have a lic plate frame from Beaverton Dodge in 68' when my dad bought a 68' charger there, would be cool maybe??

Thank you. That would be awesome to have. I will send you a mail on here to discuss the specifics.

Did some mock up of parts to make sure everything was going to fit together properly.

Adapted the new A/C controls to my original heater controls.

Brake pedal assembly installed.

New booster and master cylinder from P-S-T

New condenser. Routing the front wiring as well as the vacuum lines to make sure the A/C hard lines will mount on the inner fender okay without interfering with the vacuum/electrical system.

Found this stamping on the inside of the cowl. This is looking up inside the right side, where the original vent assembly would mount. Was getting ready to install the block off plate and found this. I was really surprised to see how rust free it was on the bottom side.

More of the same stamping. Full # reads as 86076 - 92 - 2801 - 08

Great job on your Charger! Your wheels and tires sizes are the same as what I used on my 1st Charger and I think they fit and look great! You should be happy with the look and ride! Below are a few pictures.
Good luck with your build!
