Skipster, in my hotel bathroom, the rolls , yes 2 of, toilet and bidet, both have the Arrow formation leading from the top for ease of use after staggering back from a bar - which can happen occasionally. Quite helpful really and also almost provides a mild Zen like effect which is quite lacking from this 2 star palace amongst the sandstorms and palm trees.
I will refrain from posting a pic as it will remain in my laptop and occasionally throw it up on the screen randomly which is a problem for me because I actually prefer the sheet to lead from the back of the roll and down, naturally, like a gravity fed device.

I don't understand the difference gravity makes if it's over or under.

This is an importan- tissue.

Gravity of course brings the sheet to hand whether it be forward or to the wall. This only happens (however) when the roll is in a proper rotation for the sheet to fall.  Another condition that is relevant is the tissue roll it's self. (is it tight, is it cheap, does it have static cling, etc.

If all is well with the tissue delivery system it should be at hand under the worst of a users condition.  Over the top (away from the wall) puts the tissue of need in plain view and easy to grab most of the time.

The down side is it is fun for the cat to unroll  :shruggy:

I highly agree with you ws23RT.   Over the top is the best for quickness and accuracy.   Research has proven 80% of the time it works every time.

This may be a crappy thread butt we all deal with it in one way or another nearly every day.
Life can be made easier sheet by sheet---day by day :slap:

To me this is a slam (lid shut) dunk issue. And not much room for a multipage topic that perhaps something like ---leaving the lid up--would cause.   :D

That's right.  Sometimes when I'm at a friends house or relatives, I secretly switch their toilet paper rolls so it feeds over the top.    :yesnod:

You can't get away with that. They will figure it out.  This is not something to impose on folks without serious discussions. It could lead to cascading off topic issues that most wouldn't want to get into.  --Sorta like dc.com :icon_smile_wink:

At this point I think this thread is a wipe out.

I'll admit I've acted irresponsibly and quite frankly rude by changing other people's TP position.  I'm pushing the envelope and living dangerously by doing so.  BUT,  I do it with the best intentions for a more pleasant bathroom experience.    I'm simply trying to change the world one roll at a time.
I'm glad we're having this discussion.   If this thread helps just one person it was worth it in the end.   And that my friends is the bottom line.

I prefer to swim against the tide and refute the  inferior top roll suggestion by way of explaining that you are defying logic by pulling it up and thus trying to defeat gravity by doing so. Granted the resistance is negligible but must be considered as incrementally more force is expended. And , its just ascetically more pleasing to look at, no furry ends hanging out in plain view.

I have started my own experiment in my hotel bathroom and I will be inverting the rolls orientation and see if the cleaners will contest it to change back....

I wonder how Maxim or his minions hangs his rolls, if anybody could settle it, he can, after all he has an enlightened opinion on all subjects

Some of my work is in the world of papermaking.  The machines that make tissue are amazing.  The sheet comes off the last (very hot) roll at 40+ miles an hour and is 15ft or more wide.
It's natural for the sheet to come off the top of the roll. It's made that way :nana:

Kinda depends on the job as to how much is needed.   The job I just finished with will be 5-6 squares neatly folded.  This may require 2 or 3 steps for satisfactory results so Mrs skip doesn't complain about skipmarks when doing my laundry.   Thus continuing and maintaining my fresh feeling until my next scheduled shower whilst insuring the proper amount of confidence to complete my day.

No matter how you hang it, the roll of toilet paper is just like life. The closer to the end, the faster it goes by.
