Question on a Hemi

Hey guys, just curious on what the value would be on a 1969 Hemi that was taken out of a wrecked Daytona.

A guy i work with told me he acquired the wrecked Daytona (I have my suspicions) back in the 70s and pulled the motor out. He ended up getting arrested and doing 20+ years in the pen. The motor just sat in his parents garage and is still sitting there to this day. Any thoughts on what its worth?  :scratchchin:

I would post this in the aero section if already have not.  That wrecked Daytona could be restored and the owner is searching for that motor.  That would be great if it was a motor from a Daytona and that marriage happened.

Like anything else, the price would depend on how complete it is.

Motor is complete and was not damaged he said.

He has no desire to do anything with it and I told him I'd give him $5,000 cash for it tomorrow. But hes hesitant on selling it. I personally think the car was hot and they scraped the car and he kept the motor..

First question is what numbers are on the pad?

That was going to be my question. The pad could possibly have the complete VIN stamped on it............

My first response would be "show me the motor" !

Well, "quite a few" can't be very many when they only made 70 of them....

I would guess a complete, stock hemi would be worth at least $10-15k, possibly more to the owner of the car it goes with, if it's still in existence....

:Twocents:

I believe they only made 35 Hemi Daytona's not 70.

Agree...  The "70" number was made up with no factual data to back it up, using "known cars", as a basis.   Totally left out unknown cars!
Perhaps, the known hemi cars back then were almost all accounted for, whereas a lot of 440 cars were not uncovered yet.  :shruggy:

Shipping list is way more accurate.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

who exactly is "they" ?  i recall seeing those figures in a magazine at least twenty years ago but much better information (the ship list) has surfaced since that time to refute the 70 total.

the ship list is far too detailed to omit so many hemi cars (and hemi cars only?)
