Sorry Guys for the slow start on this resto. I'm in the process of selling my house, finding one with a bigger garage, and hopefully a few acres of land. Here is what have been happening with the resto. I have been purchasing the parts that are missing (there is a lot missing) from the car. It seems a lot were lost or sold off. I reunited the Charger with a correct date coded Dana 60 3.54, and I have a donor body arriving Friday March 6, I bought for floor pans and inner fenders.

I will post pics as Progress is made.

Not trying to bring on the hate, but the car was originally green on green. I'm in the process of trying to locate the original engine and trans. So for the time being or until suitable engine and trans can be found, I thought I would have fun with it and make it a temporary General lee. Later I will return it to its former Glory.

I currently have a 75 440 for the car and still need a 4 spd trans. The car is an original 4 spd car.

Why spend all that effort and money doing it twice?  I don't hate GL's, but when I think GL I think trashed car.  Why not just do it once and do it right?  Just my opinion.

Because at this point in time, the broadcast sheet, and original driveline are missing. That said. It's just paint. I can always go back to plain Jane green.

I understand that, and even if you did have all that info it's your car and you do as you like.   :yesnod:

My thoughts were just about repainting it as that is quite costly.  Either way I'll be following your resto.   :2thumbs:

That thing is solid!

Hell, yeah! Wow, look at those floors...  :drool5:
I wonder what it looked like before it was picked clean. Almost a shame, almost.

Good luck with the project, looks like a nice starting point.
I'm also curious with the "do it twice" thought process. "Just paint" = thousands of dollars. But hey, your car, time & money.

I don't get it. Why was this sedan scrapped for parts if new floor panels can be bought pretty? B-body looks pretty nice with 4 doors too so I'm pretty sure that here rust free car could have plenty of happy users. At least I would like to have one.

My ultimate goal here is to save an R/T Charger; using original parts where I can.

New is not always better, especially with the reproduction panels, weather they weigh 42 or 52 lbs.  The fit of the original ones is often better/ more authentic.  If I was to restore an R/T or a C500, I'd do the same.  I have massaged a few aftermarket panels.  They are a wonderful thing... guess it depends on one's preference or the situation.

SINS OF THE PREVIOUS OWNER!

These are things I didn't notice till I got her home. Now The car will be undergoing full quarter treatment among the things I had already planned. Good thing I bought that donor car.

Roof support isn't touching outer wheelhouse.

Fuel door and trim ring not sitting flush with quarter.

Patches on back of tail panel. Look close you can see 3 more welded on back and filled in front.

Floor pan welded over old one.

Bad repair job to seat pan.

Cncguy

Well I Just got moved into a new to me home. The Garage is big but is in need of a rebuild. I'll probably do that in a few years. Now I'm getting back into my project Charger. This weekend I continued dismantling the 68 coronet, there are tons of spot welds on these cars. Will post pics as progress is made.

Cncguy

Had to buy a new tool to reach some of them spot welds.

Frame rails look great! Looks like you're about to start putting metal back on?
Good luck with the build!

Getting Closer! I got the rear seat pan out of the Coronet today. Those frame rails will probably be for sale soon, I'm keeping the spring perches though.

Dino

That was one hell of a nice donor!  Someone will be very happy with those rails.   :yesnod:

Took advantage of the warm weather today. Almost completely dismantled the coronet. Will be starting on the Charger soon!

Cncguy

Coronet is completely disassembled. I'm ready to begin working on the Charger. First I made adjustable jack stands using acme thread rod to get the car level.

69ChargerMikey

I'm just a newbie here, but I'm in the process of restoring a 69 charger myself. Mine was green on green, and I'm doing a General Lee also. Your post got me thinking of keeping the green paint, but vinyl wrapping the car orange on top of the green then applying the gl decals... I think the tan interior would work with the green or the orange. That said, great progress!

Cncguy

I finished restoring my VIN tag this week. Took 4 repaints to get right. Might be a little on the shiny side, but I'm happy.
