Great story. $400 is nothing for a running 3rd Gen Charger. Nothing. As another has said in this thread, change all the fluids and go through the mechanicals/consumables to get her street legal. You have something special.

Your friendship with this elder gentleman should be your primary focus. His life and experiences are inextricably tied to these cars. Learn all you can about them and him; you and your son will be the better for it.

I didn't mean to come across "too blunt," but that part just stuck out to me.

If you intentions are well with the ol' man, I think it'll turn out splendid.  I've just got a "soft spot" for the old feller (& don't even know him,) he's just near the end of his journey, and would like somebody to talk to.

Cnc, no worries bro, im sorry to if I put out any wrong information, plz forgive me, but Plz have patience with me bro, trying to learn, so i now know from it's vin THX to luke and poly that it's not a rally or have a 383, it's got the original 318, is that a good motor? The tranny seems to shift fine, and it runs real rough, I did take pictures of the speedo, but I didn't post the pictures, I sent them to Luke via email and he posted them for me, I don't really care what the cars are worth, I just care if they are worth saving, I have learned in a short period of time on here that it can cost a ton to fix them up, and will probably cost me more sense i have a lot to learn, but im willing to do it if they are worth doing, I just don't want to take them to someone and they say 2000 to fix something and I won't know if that would be the normal cost to fix that part or not, I hope im making sense to you guys. Thx

You need to delete the last 6 numbers of your vin.  All the important info is in the first 7 letters and numbers.

And yes, that is the vin of a R/T
