Replacing door glass

I'm trying to replace the passenger side door glass but am not sure of the easiest way to remove the old glass. I have tried to push that little blue plastic pin back through but it seems really stuck. Am I supposed to remove those two bolts?
If I end up having to drill out or destroy that plastic pin where can I get a new one?

Thank you,

Patronus

Thats a glass rivet. Try to remove the center pin piece and then the collar. If I recall, the glass comes out with the whole vent window assembly. I may be mistaken, its been awhile. Someone will be along to help.

Can be done a couple ways.  I have taken woods blocks and placed them behind the glass for a rigid support.  Then I tapped the blue center pin out with a punch.  Take your time and be careful.  Spray a little wd40 on it as well.  Another way is to unbolt the window crank assembly and with a little finagling slide the roller out of the window bracket.  You may have to remove the window fuzzies so the bracket will clear the door.  You can remove the vent window and door glass as one unit and to do the same when you install it.  Also, is nice to have a helper it can be awkward to handle.

how I done mine ,  its a little different to the FSM , took the whole assembly out in one piece !      ,  did not like the idea of trying to punch the plastic rivet center through , while inside the door , was worried about putting stress  on the plastic regulator roller  :scratchchin:

1 - A remove screws
2 - B remove screws & weather strip top extension
3 -  remove (J) side glass up stop
4 - slacken off nuts C
5 - remove plastic plugs & bolts (E)
6 - remove allen head bolt (F)
7 - D & G
8 - remove side glass rear run channel ( H&I
9 - remove inner & outer cats wiskas / weather strips ,  ( run a plastic bondo spreader down between the weather strip & door , then carfully pry out a little ,
while carfully pulling the weather strip up a little bit at a time slowly moving along , at a even amount , don't  pull one clip right out at once it will cause the        weather strip to bend , ( difficult to describe , its actually easier than i'm describing  :slap:) don't go mad when doing this , if you plan on reusing  your originals .
10 - wind window up , as high as it will go ,  then carefully , wiggle & slide the whole side glass vent window up &  , back a little , so the window regulator roller , slides out of the lift bracket. ,
lift the whole  side glass / vent window assembly out , carefull  not to lose the lower vent window adjusting stud  (( tape this in place when re fitting ))

lay the whole glass assembly on a table etc , slide the side glass out from the bottom , you might need new front door glass run channel seals ,   if originals good  , carfully tap out attaching pins & fit to new glass !

re fitting , with the window regulator in the fully up   position lower  vent window / side glass assembly making sure the window lift bracket  , slides onto the window regulator roller .  at the same time  lower the window regulator a little while  sliding the vent window frame / side glass fully forward into the correct position .

co incidence , ive got  my door door panel & plastic  off  , trying to locate a rattle  :P so took a few pictures & labled them last night

Great job tan top!

As far as stressing that roller if you block rigid enough that will not happen.

Zeroman

Tan Top once again you have gone above and beyond. I can't believe the time and effort you put into this. I can't thank you enough.  This is so well done if I had my way I'd make it a sticky topic.  :2thumbs:

yes , True !!  I see what your saying  ,  :yesnod: :2thumbs:

how it come about me leaving mine attached to the lift bracket & taking the  whole lot out  , was ! ,   at the time I was stripping the charger down for the resto , I  put a small block of wood behind the lift bracket , & gave the  plastic rivet center pin  a tap using  suitable size hammer & punch ,   did not move so tapped a bit harder,  still no move !! so thought last thing I want to do is break any parts that might be able difficult to get . that's how I became accustomed to taking the whole assembly out in one go ,

appreciate your comments on the write up Guys  ,  thanks
