He said the paint job is 10 years old, a 10 footer.

Funky mirrors, A/C missing under hood.
And filler on the rear pan where the corner pieces are.

give me your thoughts, I'll take the trip down to see it.

small block... is it matching numbers. take a magnet to test the panels and other areas. not too bad without inspecting it in person.
get him down a bit and it might be worth it. need more history on the car as well to make a better guess.

Well sir, not a bad looking car IMO. Yes there are some things that you'd
need to consider were you to make an offer on the car.
Rocker panels being one thing.......who knows how much rot lurks there.
The body gaps all look uniform and the trunk pan isn't too bad. I'd be pressing
down hard on the drivers/passenger floor pans to see if they are solid. The first thing
to go if I bought that car would be that air filter. Those have caused some nasty
fires because if there's a back fire through the carb the foam filter ignites
and POOF.....there goes the car.
If you wanted the AC functional that's not a huge project.
Interior looks good. Do all the instruments work? Radio? Does the heater/defroster work?
If you really like the car all you can do is offer a price and negotiate from there.
I hope it works out for you. Keep the DC.com posse in the loop.

Seems a solid start.....keyword being "seems".

Certainly worth investigating.

Good luck. :2thumbs:

There is a member here by the user hemihampton that has a beautiful running/driving survivor 70 RT with matching drivetrain for sale asking 29k.  I would fork over the 9k over the car you listed here by a long shot.

The car is listed on cars on line.com, 70 charger survivor(michigan)

The one you listed above appears to have a lot of hidden rust and a lot of mud.

If one can afford nearly a third more.......yes....well worth it.

May be worth it even if it's a stretch.

I'm really surprised it has not sold.....

plan on putting a trunk floor with the drop down extensions  ,   & lower rear valance & end caps , lower front & rear  or complete quarters  , currently  been made the wrong shape out of bondo , then factor in maybe inner wheel well repair ,  repair or replace door bottoms ,  :Twocents:

photos ,  while a lot of  , don't really show anything important  , how far away is the car ?

A little high to me, I think that is a 15K car and that SB better scream.

I see the bubbles and pealing paint in the door jam along with the black engine compartment and only looked at some of the pictures.

An offer of 12K isn't crazy to start but for 20K keep looking.

I agree, but it seems like there are a lot of 10K Chargers out there that are really rust buckets, in far worse shape. My 2 cents (if I am allowed a opinion and it's approved by a 44 y/0 .Mr. Global Moderator)

Seems a good price. Almost too good. Best be taking a real good look.

Be VERY CAUTIOUS!  Take someone who really knows these cars (bodyman) with you for inspection.  9k savings would  be GONE if the metal under that paint is bad.  Plus.... it ain't a big block. (No disrespect the small block guys...)

I like it!  If he'll take 16-18,000, I think you're doing pretty good.  Either way, as others have stated, check for rust/rot/little things that will need attention.

Did you want to make this a show car?  Or simply keep it as a driver?  If you just want a driver; I'd say swap that air filter, certify the vehicle, and enjoy it!  It would be money well spent that you're almost gauranteed to get back if you sell (in it's current condition).  :2thumbs:

20,000 is my limit.

Driver quality, as in daily driver. My daughter will probably drive it more than me. 318 which is good for me.

Thanks for the tip on the magnet, it's been so long, I forgot about that. I really appreciate the tips. It's about 90 minutes from my house.

I'd be most concerned about all that bubbling rust hiding under that nice shiny paint job. I'd check out the trunk real good. Most likely Trunk & possibly rear frame rails, trunk extensions, Wheelwells, ect, ect. has all been replaced or bondoed over. If replaced probably a poor job needing replacing again properly. I say this because I never seen a trunk replaced correctly or quality to my satisfaction. Both rear corners missing the 2 parting lines meaning most likely all bondo. Check floors for rust or replacement. Good Luck.

hemi-hampton

2 more & I see more bubbling in other spots. :scratchchin:

NHCharger

Those rust bubbles could break through in 5 months or 5 years. My 71 had bubbles like that for 10+ years before I needed to address them.
Any bubbles under the vinyl? Thought I saw sumpin' funny on driver side, over quarter window.
I'm betting the valance caps are sculpted out of bondo.
Under side and frame look good. Interior looks nice.
Most drivers have some filler, you have to expect that, If it's not Full of bondo and he would settle for 17k that would be a decent deal if you don't find any major issues with it.

In my opinion. Rust bubbles like that should be addressed NOW. Not 5 years from now. Unless you don't mind driving around with them & watching them grow bigger & bigger. I've worked on low budget used car lot cars before that would bubble like that within a month or 2 after I bondoed it & painted it. If it didn't sell within a month on the lot & started bubbling, it be right back again for a quicky touch up & now hoping it will sell within this next month. :shruggy: :Twocents:  LEON.

Cooters though will straight up tell you not to get it  :icon_smile_big: or go back to 1980 and offer the prices from those times which would be 1k for this car,  yeah he has done it.

other than that it is overpriced IMO because its a dealer.....my car is not even worth 20k though granted this car is in better condition than mine.
