My phone screen is dead. It still turns on and off (I can hear it).  Anyway, AT&T tells me they cannot down load my pic's or Phone numbers because I did not a chip ?  Does anyone here work on phones, and maybe fix mine.  My screen has a crack, but it worked before with it. Any advise or a reliable reference to get it fixed would be great.  Thanks, mike.
My lost contacts is killing me.

You can't plug it into a computer and download the files from it?

yep...if its just the screen that broke, you should be able to do that.

As for your contacts, all hope isn't lost. depending on how you set up your phone when you got it, your contacts may be backed up through your google account.

I made my Nokia to Iphone contacts transmision through Outlook ( back in 2011 ). Now quite often make a security back up on Itunes, which makes a back up of EVERYTHING including my actual setup and EVEN SMSs and WA chats. Of course pics and videos too. This worked when changed from Iphone 4 to 5S and got an EXACT copy of what I had on the 4 into the 5S... when I say EXACT I really mean that

I can't think Samsung could be quite diff from that, being competitors. I guess samsung gets some software like Itunes... and Nokia with OVI, etc...

No, because I can't see the screen to click on contacts (because there is no screen to work with)  :brickwall:

your phone's screen doesn't matter as long as the phone itself does turn on and everything else works. if you plug it into a computer with a USB cable, it should pop up on the computer as an additional device/storage drive. You can then go through it using Windows Explorer and copy your pics, music, and any other stuff you don't want to lose off of it onto your computer's hard drive.

Not sure if you can access your contacts that way (i've never tried it) but its worth a shot.

good to hear about the pics.

What did they mean about the chip? the SIM card? If so, that'd be odd because the phone would not have worked at all without one. As far as I know S3's had SIM cards, and your contacts should be on there.

No there is a sim card and another place to put another chip (it's like a sim card that stores everything) I think it's called a memory card. heck I don't know.  I am 20 years behind the average teenager who makes this seem like grammar school to them.  :brickwall:

yeah, thats the SD card. usually that's where you store pics, music, documents etc because you want to leave the built in storage drive for apps and whatnot (so they run faster).

Either way, as long as the phone itself is not dead (only the screen), the built in storage should be accessible from a computer. But, more puzzling, phone and user info is usually stored in the SIM card.

I'd try going to a different AT&T store and have them check it out. Having worked as an electronics sales man myself, I can tell you that half of the time those guys don't know what theyre talking about.
