This is one of the reasons I don't like CI or YO.  They are just a giant middleman who spend way more money on marketing and order takers than they ever will on actually reproducing a part or ensuring quality control.  Lure them in with a low price and make it up with shipping.  Summit is much the same.

:iagree:

Shit like this takes ALL of the fun out of this hobby. :brickwall:
I have an original used set.  The exterior chrome you can see is show quality.  The top/bottom edge where you cannot see has minor pitting. If you want I can send you some pics.  Send that repop junk back!  Pm me if int.

Thanks Justin.

I'll keep that in mind.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

I might have to walk away from the hobby for a while.

The fun is gone.

QuoteThat's just not acceptable.  If a reproduction part can't be held to an oem tolerance then there isn't much sense in repopping it.  shruggy

Exactly.

Heh, heh, heh . . .  sounds like you guys don't have much experience with the repro market.   :icon_smile_wink:

how did you pay them? Check?? Credit card??

if credit card, can you dispute the charge with card company??

you only have so long to dispute the charges...as far as I'm concerned, they should have gotten back to you already..if you dispute charges, bet they contact you right away

I bought those same bezels and had the same issues. I think they are an OER part? I ended up cutting the pages off and using clear silicone to mount them. Hated to do it but really didn't see any other option.

That guy Doug at Classic Industries is good- they also have a couple space cadets working there.

Overall I am happy with 80% of what I buy from them. A lot of it is just that it is the best available and if you want the part then that is what you are going to get.

So, This is an on-going problem at Classic Industries ?

Interesting... :scratchchin:

VegasCharger

I hope this isn't high jacking but the topic is CI and I'll add my situation to the mix. I ordered a complete dash bezel kit for my 68 Charger through CI. Upon receiving the bezels there was a defect on the gauge bezel in the form of peeling chrome. I've attached pics. First two pics just show the orientation of the defected area. Other two pics show the defect. I followed this up with a phone call to CI and the guy was very helpful. I told him that I could provide him with pics via e-mail to justify my case. He had me send him pics. He followed up with a phone and said that he was going to send me a pre paid postage label. I was relieved to hear that. I believe that I had to send the entire set back to CI. But I did receive a complete undetected set the second time around. However when installing the glove box bezel, I had to slightly egg out one of the holes on my dash to compensate one of the bolt towers.

Sorry for your frustations Daytona R/T SE, hope it gets resolved

That's really good to see. Typically their customer service is good. I have bought quite a few pieces from them and not had a problem. They are probably the easiest company to deal with aside from Summit. I have built several firebirds using their parts

However- I have had to start buying items locally due to the fact that I think their fright charges are inflated. My recent order was a wiring harness and I think the freight was 30% of the order cost. Not bad if it was 3 days to TX but when it is 2 days to process and 4-5 transit I can't justify it. Not when I can get the same part for the same price local. Not as convenient for me but it was something like $40 to ship and it pisses me off every time.

Don't even get me started on the inflated insurance costs of Classic and especially Year One!

:2thumbs:To Classic Industries for stepping up and also continually searching the forum here!

Ray,

Thanks for responding to this discussion of the products that you sell.

I did receive an e-mail from Tony this evening, and have requested from him a full refund, since the parts at their present level of quality are simply not going to work for me on my project.

I do hope the refund will include the $43.95 that I was charged for shipping and "Handling."

CLASSIC

Hi Daytona R/T SE,
You're welcome. Tony will take care of you. Our company policy is to refund the S&H if an issue involves a defective item, so, you will be receiving a full refund as per our "Money Back Guarantee". Good luck with your project. Please let Tony know if we can be of any further assistance. And, by the way, we have removed the parts in question from inventory and will not be selling them until we have a solution to the alignment of the tabs. So, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will work with the manufacturer to get it corrected.

Best Regards,

Ray

+1
. I've placed a couple orders to Classic Industries, however, quickly learned their shipping rates are simply outrageous - a 12" cubed box, weighing less than 10lbs. is $80.00 to ship via regular ground freight? C'MON!
I now wait for one of their 15% off + 1/2 off freight coupons to appear before I continue with future purchases.

Hi Nickrc3,
The 15% off and FREE shipping offer is a great way to save some money.
Question... What exactly did you order that was $80 to ship? And, where was it shipping to? When you placed your order, was it an item that was dimensionally small and light in weight, but price point was high? Let me know. You can respond here or PM me here. Thanks,

Ray

It's an industry-wide issue.
A lot of Year One's shipping charges insult the buyer's intelligence.

IMO you don't ever have the whole price on a repro part until you know the shipping bill.

Another great reason to buy from Megapartsusa.com . the charger actual shipping and they usuall already beat most of the others on the part price too.
